In all seriousness though, I like all the pairings. Ano and Yuna have obvious chemistry that doesn't really need to be explained. Ano and Nena are friends outside of their relations to their other friend groups, and obviously you can't be friends in a yuri story without becoming girlfriends at some point. That's the rules.

I kinda like the idea of an aromantic Nena though. She has no time for girls! There's very important sleeping to be done! :P

That said, Miki x Seina is the ship I truly love. Sweet soft gf x smol stronk gf is too good. And Seina has that one scene that everyone loves of course.

I'm not gonna claim to be the authority on the matter, but for what it's worth, I'm gray ace and Kasumi can definitely be read as ace-spec if you ask me.

...I imagine it probably says something about either myself or society that my criteria for "the dream" is mostly comprised of "being loved" and "not being pressured into doing things that make me unhappy".

edit: incidentally, anyone who still has concerns they don't feel the same way about each other should probably consult this page where Yukiko goes out of her way to spell it out for you. It almost feels like the fifth panel is just talking about her readers.

^^ Exactly. If you'll pardon the possibly overdone comparison, DDLC is to gal games as Undertale is to RPG's. It's played as one, but it's not meant to be viewed in the same lens, per se. The familiar hook is there to draw you in for a closer examination.

As a visual novel enthusiast, I felt it was unfortunate that the game's viral popularity ended up giving it a reputation for just being a creepy visual novel rather than what it was actually meant to be. Even so, I'm happy for Team Salvato, both for getting such a large and (mostly) positive reception and for the boost in interest it created for visual novels (a medium with a pretty severe image problem outside of Japan).

Regardless of what people saw it as, it was certainly a success and I'm happy with that.

(There's a lot of parallels with Undertale and Toby Fox actually, but that's not what I'm here to talk about :P)

It's been a while since I last read this. The way it's set up is so good.

It feels more or less like a normal, slightly tongue-in-cheek take on "love-comedy" manga. (I'd hesitate to call it comedic. Or, y'know, in any way romantic. But that's neither here nor there.) The pseudo-4th-wall-breaking is used in a way that seems like it's just satirizing the genre.

But as it goes on there's a persistent feeling of dread growing that really starts making itself apparent when Megumi begins to literally see protagonist-kun differently. Cue the whole "demoted to an extra" thing and it becomes clear that this is not just satire.

It's a really great concept that leaves me wanting more, but it's not really something you could make much of a series out of. It only really works on its own, or as part of some sort of meta horror anthology. I just wish there was more like it.

I just re-read this and I gotta say, the comedy carries it way better than any fanservice ever could. I think the author must have realized that at some point, because it really dies down after a bit.

The justification is that a jpeg of a waifu is worth more than a jpeg of a husbando and it's easy to hand wave a genderswapped version of a historical figure into existence because their core demographic just wants waifus to fawn over anyways.

I have almost totally fallen off the vtuber train which is something I probably should have known would happen. Still watching clips and such, but the OP probably won't be getting updated at all (not that I ever did that anyways. It was the plan when I made the thread but never ever trust me to follow through on a plan I make myself. :P)

On the bright side, I now have more time to spend on other things I'll quickly lose interest in!
