The story and characters are just terrific (and adorable!) and the setting is very interesting too.

One is left to wonder where any male beastkin are, eh? Why there's a school for orphans? That implies there are (or were) beastkin families out there somewhere, but these girls don't know about them. Someone mentioned genocide, that could be in the recent past. Did Beastkin live in another nation? In wild places? Were they bred in captivity? It seems all the adult ones are gone.

They are slaves, they do have to work: Mel and the others are trained to be household maids. Tiny, adorable maids!

There are many really evil people in this universe it seems: they roam around kidnapping beastkin, so there must be an active market for stolen ones, used for vile purposes no doubt :<

Normally I like this sort of thing, but the MC is just too annoying :p Pass.

This is the best kind of Naoko Kodama story, where both of the leads are kinda awful people so that you don't have to feel bad for either of them.

What is awful about MC? Randomly insult a character like that is awful.

It wasn't rape, because senpai had the full autonomy to leave. It wasn't taking advantage of a vulnerable person, because senpai intentionally didn't want to find work and just wanted to mooch off people. If anything, the request for sex was a fair AND admirable decision. Admirable because MC wasn't a doormat that let people step all over her without doing anything about it, but she wasn't nasty about it either. Truly awful people would have pretended to be nice and selfless on the surface then talked behind the other's back in contempt.

They are both horrible people: vain, shallow, selfish, egocentric, stupid too. Nothing wrong with that in a story of course! Lolz!
