For now we're going to go with a pseudo-doujinshi numbering (i.e. based on the original numbering but not totally accurate). This will be revisited when me and dpf have some more time to talk it over.

Like most things done in the heat-of-the-moment, in the state of emotional breakdown, it was very embarrassing.

I think...Mikage might be the best person to Suwako. I dunno. Everyone always ends up breaking up with her, and my best guess as the only reason she has a husband because he was rash and proposed like 3 weeks into their relationship or something. Although, he definitely has to know that she fools around a lot, and he still keeps her.

Suwako went under some intense shit during her life. She's a good person but she doesn't know how to cherish someone yet. Mikage is a good person and knows how to cherish someone a little TOO well.

Not sure how you came to this definitive conclusion. We know next to nothing about her.

It's just speculation, really.

But as someone who knows a Suwako-san in real life, I found ColonialCat's post a bit chilling in its accuracy. It's a very thoughtful analysis, and one I'll get behind readily on a bright day. As bad as this might look, maybe their relationship obstacles are something they'll overcome together, and they'll both fondly look back on these stories as their "rough patch."

Have you seen the Bee Train stuff? Noir, Madlax, El Cazador de la Bruja. They all feature two women as main characters with relationships that range from "barely even subtext" in Madlax to "all but text" in El Cazador, plots that have their heads stuck up their ass to a varying extent, and really good music.

Well, I didn't watch the show so it may very well be baseless speculation, yuri fans hate the show after all. Thanks for clearing that up.

Well to actually clear it up, I would assume many observant people* rooting for Mr. Love Interest (MIL) despised her. She's set up as being extremely protective of Tamako, which means she's constantly foiling MIL's advances. I've seen fans and bloggers deriding her role in the series because they were rooting for the dude. In this sense, I could even imagine someone at KyoAni saying, "Midori was meant to be disliked [for her role in the romance]."

As far as her actual character, though? She's just a normal girl, plenty of good and bad points. Probably not a fan favorite, but hardly annoying. Definitely not someone I'd ever think was made up to be disliked.

*I specify observant because as canon as Midori's feelings are, the reveal is pretty subtle. I know of more than a few folks who just didn't get it without being told.

In the novel, it seems like Nibutani has feelings for Yuuta.

In the novel everyone has feelings for Yuuta :X It's a completely different story. Though, I feel like in season 2 it was hinted that Nibutani had feelings for Yuuta before he got together with Rikka. This would seem to be a rather awful retcon of actual events that happened if it came true.

It's basically SoL, so even an ending doesn't really feel like an ending. First season ended conclusively, second season slightly less so (though that's probably because it ends after their second year, and then it's like...come on, just go till they graduate!).

Dekomori is an anime-only character. Just another sign that someone at KyoAni really likes yuri.

IIRC, the anime adaption isn't anything like the original novel, as the novel is closer to typical harem fare than straight-up romance.

Click the "Source" button and it'll bring you right to the original posting. (Though in this case it seems like the original posting was removed at a later date -.-;)
