Main character seems pretty unlikeable, this probably won't be my cup of tea.

Keep in mind Akira is not on hormones or anything, being a minor with parents that oppose their choice. She's already quite tall, so we're talking a teenager who has already gone through a lot of growth. It's not a surprise she has an advantage.

Yes, that's what I was referring to. Even when you have both guy and girl not working out, guy will still be stronger on average simply because of differences between sexes. It only changes after you start taking hormones (which Akira is not) and even then it doesn't disappear completely or changes overnight. I thought it was quite obvious.

Also, I see this as less "coping about the body" than "coping about other people's expectations" and a way to show she can deal with it. Remember that Akira is not the tough type.

I meant it that way too. She was being rationalizing to herself why others ask her to do all that stuff and her explanation was "because I'm the strong girl" instead of damaging "because I'm/they see me as a guy".

Most trans women after a year or two on hormones are around even and (many are significantly weaker than) most cis women. I went from stronger than the average boy for my age to weaker than the average girl for my age.

I read it even though I told myself I was done with this manga, sigh, anyway chapters that focus on Akira are generally better than the ones focusing on Hime. Hime's character arc is WAY too all over the place and I really can't figure out what the mangaka is trying to do with her, not to mention how passive she is, you would think it would be the opposite but Hime is so much more passive a character than Akira, yeah, Hime gets more focus, but that focus is entirely just her sitting down and letting ppl preach at her.

The casual sexism ruined the mood

I only just started, but this series really seems to get how certain labels some people find empowering are hurtful to others. I feel like pronouns are getting fucked up all over the place though.

You said you just started, right? The pronouns are kinda messed up in the early chapters, but there is a plot reason for that. Basically, Tetsu has got some growing to do.

When Kodama likes a premise, she sticks to it, huh?

I think I'm done with this manga now, I might check back after a while but until then I'm out.

I don't get that, what's wrong with Kotone and Mei's relationship that indicates the author "doesn't know to write yuri"?

Yeah, I don't really get where they are coming from, at this point in time there is no relationship to speak of, all we've gotten is a few hints that it may go in that direction, certainly not enough to say they don't know how to write Yuri.

I'm not a huge fan of horny manga myself, that said though, horny Kodama Naoko manga are definitely way better than depressing Kodama Naoko manga, I love how honest she is in the notes.

This short little manga was one of the most realistic portrayals of lesbians I've ever seen in a manga

I've said this before, but I really like how this manga is savvy enough not to keep the same gags going on for to long before changing the pace somewhat. Compared to most gag romances, this one is actually going quite fast.

Unless a work is one of those relationship drama's where the couple's are constantly changing I don't support ANY surprise pairings, at least not with the main characters.

I think it comes down to the translator's preference. The whole honorifics thing is so deeply ingrained in Japanese culture and dialogue that it often simply can't be translated into English without losing a lot of the meaning. Some translators prefer to leave in the honorifics in order to preserve that context and meaning and some prefer to translate what they can into nice smooth flowing 100% English while losing some of the meaning. It's not a big deal either way.

I don't see the point in people getting worked up about something so trivial regardless of their preference,

I'm not really worked up about that. I think it comes across as a little odd, but overall not a big deal. I was just annoyed at that other person's condescending attitude.

You know that the author is Japanese right ? And the original version is in Japanese too ?With probably the sama and sensei use. We don't even know where it is since there is no indication of space, so yeah it could be no in Japan as it can totally be and even if it's not in Japan, i don't think that even a reason to translate the honorifics as,again, in the context, sama don't have a real translation who can fit.

The author is Japanese? Whoa? Who knew? In that case they shouldn't translate it at all, the work was intended to be read in Japanese, they shouldn't change that vision.

Anyone else find the use of "sama" and "sensei" odd, I feel like those should have been translated.

Uh what ? I assume that isn't your first reading a manga on the site so i don't quite understand why you ask. If the honorifics are here then i suposs they were here in the raws so there is no reason to translate them. Even so, in the context the -sama used is not really translatable.

The manga clearly takes place outside of Japan, in this case leaving those very Japanese terms in place is pretty odd.

That's cheating, you shouldn't date a girl when you're already dating shogi.

It's a threesome

With names like Alice Keating and Miriam I think the mangaka must have Googled "List of Extremely White Names for Girls", I'm mostly joking if course, this manga has sorta piqued my interest, I'll keep reading. I was on the fence before, but after this chapter, it seems like we might really get a Mei and Kotone pairing, and I for one welcome it, of course, I think Kotone still has some growing to do, but she'll get there.

Gabdrop meets New Game, but it's a harem ecchi. I'm not one for harem-y, loner wish fulfillment things like this so I think I'll pass.

I Was gonna comment something similar.
