God i want someone to commission at least two more chapters of this. Because in chapter three the ""Male Trap Character"" as other people have called her shows up and describes herself as a trans woman... So that sounds interesting not a lot of self described trans women in manga and especially not yuri manga.
(Source BTW: https://twitter.com/gredlen/status/894907438113193984?lang=en)

The word transgender is used, but Utsugi herself comes out as trans by telling them she's "male" on her family register (there's a law for changing it, but a minor can't) then another character says "Oh yeah I heard about this! From this year transgender kids can enroll at our school too! It's a Japan first!" And her profile text that shows up in the margins of the magazine says she's transgender.

I can't remember how Wife and Wife altered its "fufu"

It used ふ~ふ, hiragana and a ~ for its long vowel instead of う or a ー (normal straight long vowel mark).

but this is the base phrase with kanji: "未来の夫婦ですけど?" I believe.

It uses ふうふ, so hiragana, not kanji.

It's the most generic kohai/senpai yuri ever, but it's still great.

They're in the same class.

Wait, so was there another chapter after she asked about being an editor? I just read all of it, and all sources say it was completed with 19 chapters, but that's a huge cliffhanger if so.

There were 5 more chapters.

It's ultimately going to have three volumes, right? (third one not yet out)

Yes, it's scheduled for March 22nd.

This was a pilot run. It was announced months ago that it would get a longer serialization.

The mangaka recently finished serialization of Watashi to Kanojo no Otomari Eiga.

The Engrish title was fixed in the tank.

The kind of weird thing is the chronology. Shuri didn't find out about Rina and Ayumi's relationship until after the voting had started. So was she the one who asked the teacher to start the vote in the first place? Or did she have nothing to do with starting the vote, and just adopted it for her scheme part-way through?

If she did pressure Eriko to start the vote before even knowing about Rina and Ayumi, then for what purpose? She said she was the source of the rumors about a lesbian couple in the swim club—was she just trying to get Saki kicked out? I feel like this story would've made a lot more sense if the vote had only started after Shuri found out about Rina and Ayumi. The way it's presented now, it looks like she just randomly tried to get any two people kicked out of the club for no real reason, and then only decided during the vote that those two people should be Saki and Ayumi.

Having seen Ayumi and Saki, she's likely to have gossiped about what she saw, not because she predicted it would lead to a homophobic flare up in the club, but just because it's gossip material. And then it's plausible that she'd suggest the vote as a way to settle the trouble in the club without yet having a plan for exploiting it. She's not a nice person. It's maybe even more plausible than if it were supposed to have been just as planned from the start to get rid of Ayumi and Saki, as the way things played out wasn't really in her control (the homophobic girl's actions and the injury) and she could have made their names known as part of the rumors to have a better chance of getting what she wanted.

Wings is monthly. Takashima just missed the previous issue (probably due to work concerning the OVA).

Wings is bimonthly. She missed the December issue (which came out in October) due to health reasons.

When the brother says that she got the fracture falling from the stairs, she says it's a lie.

She was just using "uso" as an exclamation of astonishment. It just means she woke up confused.

The beetles are kabutomushi. Males of the species are very recognizable. Neither of those are male.

"Carte" should be "Karte". The Japanese use it as a loanword from German to mean medical records.

The last rule of the test is that passing the test results in being recognized as her genuine lover. Kind of an important point.

The idea of this story is nothing new. Pretty similar story was running in Yuri Hime magazine not that long time ago. It was about two Yuri Fairys sended to earth by Goddess. Written by Minamoto Hisanari.

That wasn't similar. That was about the fairies solving yuri problems on request of people with a yuri problem. The fairies didn't act mad yuri fans stretching to find yuri. They certainly didn't try to force someone uninterested in yuri to make yuri.

I agree with this, even the conflict back in school was presented so vaguely, us guessing it had something to do with the main character being outed is just that, guess work. It is reasonable, given the author and genre of her works, but going purely by what we are shown, it is still pretty much left for us to guess and speculate. I am not really sure what was even the point of all this vagueness.

The dodgy translation may obscure it, but that's definitely what it's about. In Japanese it's only vague to an extent where it's not treating the reader as dumb.

I'm not dismissing you, that's just one heck of a poor translation if true.

It's not unusual for fan translations to mess up like this.

Chizuru: You spoke?
Tomoka: Yeah.
Tomoka: I got apologized to.
Tomoka: I didn't mean for it to, but it spreading was because of me, she said.
Chizuru: O-oh, okay.
Chizuru: (A reconciliation!?) So then you can get on again...
Tomoka: Whut? Nah, nah, as if. Like, let's be friends again? No chance!!
Tomoka: Things ain't that easy!
Tomoka: And I've no intention of going to the classroom!
Tomoka: When just being there is a battle, no thanks. (that atmosphere!)

Come to think of it, I'd forgotten about Japan's "infirmary attendance" (保健室登校), so the implication is presumably that she'd still attend school for the sake of the required days of attendance (that's what Chizuru brought up at the pancake place, not the frequency of her sessions) by going to the infirmary rather than the classroom.

I don't get it, why would they accept her apology if they were? An apology won't make that much of a difference for her if they were bigots, besides what is she apologizing for? Being gay, or making them uncomfortable for being gay? It's honestly a bit crap, the implications set here by this one-shot are dumb. She quit the school for that reason, came back and apologized to THEM? If the Mangaka wanted her to be a smart character, then they should write her like one.

The translation is wrong.

She was the one of who was apologized to. As I understand it, the girl she confessed to apologized as she feels that the gossip about Tomoka spreading was her fault although she didn't intentionally cause that.

Also, she's saying still can't face going to class. She only went into school once. I think just as she felt she needed to clear the air with the girl she liked to move on.

Also, that page: https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/my_unrequited_love_ch11#22 puzzles me. I can't make head or tail of what she means.

The Japanese was clearer. She means that if things had gone a bit differently in the past she could well have been married to Reiichi now.

i noticed that the chapter uploaded here is the final chapter, therefore where is the full book?

It's a one-shot from the March 2017 issue of Yurihime.

Looking back through things, we also know that Reiichi "cruelly dumped" Kaoru several times thoughout high school and university, and that Kaoru almost always spent, specifically, valentines day alone.

The translation should have said she got rejected, not dumped. Valentine's is a standard day for asking someone out, so that's why her friends had to comfort her, after she got rejected each time.

What else can this page mean other than that she should already be the brother's wife instead (i.e. the little sister's sister)?

I think he is cheating, but in that line she is saying she could potentially have ended up marrying him (and therefore be Uta's sister in law now), if life had gone differently. Back in school she had been dating him.

I really love the art of this series, but is it just me or are some of the lines just kind of... nonsensical? Maybe just translation issues?

Yes, it's down to the low quality of the translation.

"I don't know what you were told, but you shouldn't take what that woman says seriously."

Nope.
Seo: "Makino-san, do you go kissing just anyone?"
Makino: "...What? Did you misinterpret that? It was supposed to wind you up. What you think of me is up to you, but don't go forcing onto me something I could do without."

The time skip served no purpose but to not have to show any actual progress between them between dumping the boyfriend and getting a girlfriend. It would have been great to see the reaction of a girl finally dumping her boyfriend for her instead of the reverse.

The flashback at the beginning of chapter 12 is her reaction to realizing Taneda had broken up with her boyfriend. We know from chapter 11 that Taneda then patiently played the waiting game, leaving to Yamanaka to eventually come after her and it showed how that approach bore fruit. Given the nature of Taneda's successful way of winning Yamanaka over, the time skip was needed. The important points that led to the outcome were shown.

Is this really the end? The afterword made it sound like the author was not yet done writing about this couple.

There's been a couple more chapters so far.

It was in the translation of Now Loading. The original line was more like just "You're an adult so act like one."

I’m wondering how all these authors got into the anthology, were they asked or did they volunteer to contribute to this collection? .-.

Asked by YH. All of them have recently done or are doing work for YH.
