I like the inclusion of swear words. My friend says Japanese doesn't have them, but I dunno....

Your friend is right, it's not possible to plug in words and go.

Something like "that guy" can be really bad in context. It's the same with pet names. The #1 is "anata" and that just means "you." it's how you say it and the context.

What translators do is say, how would a Japanese speaker take "that guy?" and translate it to "screw you, you bastard!" or take "kuso!" (crap) and because of the context it's "oh, f__k." Etc. Thinx of "she's a real witch with a B" and that's simialr to Japanese.

Technically Japanese has lots of swear words and dirty words but it takes practice and help to navigate them,, so they aren't so available, and you can do the equivalent of swearing without them. and it has VERY few pet names but pronunciation, context, and affixes do some of the work there.
