It's a lot better once you nuke away most, if not all, of the default subreddits.

What is a reddit? It looks something like an awful version of 2-ch and 4-ch.

There are times it's better and many times it's just as bad. It's still a nice thing to check out every so often if you visit the right subreddits IMO.

As I heard it it's founder, same guy who really pushed RSS syndication, was found dead in his dorm room this week after killing himself due to impending 38 year jail time for downloading freely available MIT records.

He wasn't their co-founder, it was just a title given to him.
He did co-found RSS though.
Quite a shame, even if he wasn't anyone "special" at all. The law sucks.

The charge was downloading millions of JSTOR records and making them publically available, which are not freely available.
