Is that even an actual thing, not having enough air during a kiss or is it just some kind of trope used in manga?
I never had any problems kissing while breathing through my nose and I certainly don't have big lungs lol.

Yeah, seems to be a common occurence in mangas. Guess a lot of manga author never kissed and never figured they could breath through their nose while doing it. I mean, who ever stopped breathing during a kiss ? Oo

Well it depends. It takes some experience at times to remember to keep breathing through your nose during long kisses/kissing sessions. Not to mention doing sexy things with someone often causes one to have a lot of physical reactions and actions which make one more likely to breathe through one's mouth (like during exercise).
