What is bothering me: there is nothing keeping them apart except themselves lol.

Like most couples who aren’t couples yet. Not being confident in yourself and not knowing how the other person feels and being kind of scared to find out is a lot more common than being from rival feuding families or being forced into an arranged marriage.

Especially in high school.

i mean that´s the whole point of the story you know hence why all the references to the salamander and frog short story

It's been Koyuki speaking the whole time.

In the story, the Salamander can't leave. Meaning, she doesn't want to graduate.

Eeesh chapter 16.... really working the aaaangst out of the subtext

It was just a few weeks, you know. There's already been several time skips of that lenght throughout the manga, and the public exhibition near Christmas had already been mentioned in the previous chapter so it was easy to guess that's when the latest one would be set. Also, the third-years' eventual graduation had been mentioned in chapter 14 as well when talking about the school trip.

It getting better and better, I love it! Let's wait what happens next :3

Kinda weird to say that my two favorite current yuri manga are basically this one and the Stepbrother's Wife one. Which both so far didn't do anything outright gay, and possibly never will.
