I played the games, but I still find it somewhat hard to go along with Neptune and Noire as couple, probably since Neptune can't be taken seriously, and Noire is the butt of like 90% of the jokes.

I wish the Nep games were visual novels instead of RPG's. I'd actually be able to play them and enjoy the writing without slogging through the godawful combat. I understand the importance of satire in the games, but oh god is it boring.

^^There are usually two kinds of couples, the romantic and the comical. Yunigear fall under romantic and slightly comical, while Nep and Noire are more comical. But yeah, we need more Unigear

NepNowa is all about that jokey exterior with the emotional layers below. If you play all the games and pay attention there are quite a few key scenes that cement this as the most popular HDN ship it is. The remakes are somewhat more direct about it.
UniGear is basically canon tho (Tagmension, although being an AU spin-off, having a literal confession of love and all), so I see why people jump on that easier.

@blopa did you play the original version or the rebirth version? Now I haven't played any of the rebirth versions but I've played the originals and their relationship is basically a subtle subplot in those
