What do you mean? She did this to HERSELF! Lack of sleep, studying and stuff. That's what makes her unpopular

Tomoko is super weak against Asuka-chan and I love it!

Okay, I gotta ask since I've seen an explosion of content about this series here and other yuri-related places recently.
What is this series about? Is it good? What is it's yuri level?

WataMote is a cringe comedy about a socially awkward, incredibly anxiety-ridden girl named Tomoko. Much of the series' early humor derived from Tomoko being a complete failure at life, but it began to take a turn as the series neared its hundredth chapter; after a trip to Kyoto, Tomoko gets a consistent group of friends that she hangs around very often, and a few of them have various levels of obsession with her. How yuri the series actually is depends on how tight your goggles are, but Tomoko herself is pretty much confirmed bisexual.
As for whether or not it's good, I enjoy it, but it's definitely a series that is not for everyone, and it can strike pretty close to home. It has a twelve-episode anime, and while it doesn't get to the parts that have inspired this yuri boom, an episode or two should be enough to tell whether or not you'll like it.

In terms of success rate of kidnapping Kuroki, Asuka is second to Kii-chan. Like look how weak Kuroki becomes after Asuka touches her.

That's the entire point of the series and the point of the title. It's not in question. Tomoko's journey is from self-hatred and self-deception to a gradual opening up to her own nature and the outside world.

Just start reading the manga when they go on their first field trip, you really wouldn't miss anything that much

Chapter 139, college-shopping with Nemo and Akane, is GREAT.

^ Definitely a real concern. I'll drop at the first sign. I dropped RWBY after season one and never regretted it. (Although it's not like that series ever had much potential officially speaking.)

In 139 chapters of this series, there have been no substantial male characters except for Tomoko's brother Tomoki. There have been at least ten well-developed female characters and a rich focus on female friendship. Why see a "sharp het turn" coming? We'll be lucky if it goes on beyond high school, anyway.

I think dropping the yuri/yuri subtext is a bad idea and the authors know it. It's one of the main reasons for the manga's second wind.

The comment by Fellofalot as well as the comments on this pic https://dynasty-scans.com/images/8632 are what convinced me to pic up the manga after finishing the anime. I want to say thank you so much for this. Well worth it.
On topic of this pic, Asuka's face in the final panel just reminds me of Sakura Trick - generic beaming, smiling fact. And yet its so adorable. I actually only just got the volume with this chapter in it, and I'm so loving it. The pics here make me look forward to much more Asuka.
