^I don't have a lot of interaction with other FE fans, so I have no reference of what is and isn't popular

Yeah, I don't think Edelgard and Ingrid interact at all in either Houses or Hopes. But I can see the logic, they are both serious and duty minded, Ingrid would actually benefit from Edelgard rule but is on the other side of the war. There is a lot of potential.

tbh, I hope this doesn't sound rude but Edelgrid could have been like a half-joking suggestion that seems to have slip through but I am all for it though especially when Ingrid is notable for supporting the three other male lords but not Edelgard.

Ingrid is unfortunately one of the most aggressively straight characters in that game but the one paralogue with her and Dorothea and their supports has always fuel and endless amount of yuri between them.

I need to get to Three Hopes eventually but yeah in Three Houses at least I know Ingrid is one of the straightest members of the cast, Dorothea tries to flirt with her but Ingrid seems firmly against it because Ingrid is written so straight. It feels like Ingrid not wanting to fit into what others want her to be would have been an easy way to explore her sexuality more in the game but alas. That said it's definitely something where you can adjust things to ship her and Dorothea in fan art/fiction, so I understand why they get fan creations together.

It probably doesn't help Ingrid has, like, negative chemistry with every men in the cast. I didn't found any of her actual romance options convincing. Sylvain is the closest, but that sucks because Sylvain. Meanwhile, her paralogue with Dorothea has great interactions, even if Ingrid firmly rejects at the end.
