^ Here a synaesthete's impression of what each Pokémon type tastes like. (Note: I don't have lexical–gustatory synaesthesia in particular so I'm just making up stuff, like the people naming ice cream or perfumes.)

Normal: white bread; somewhat plain at first but turning sweet and malty the longer you chew
Fire: a little bittle over-roasted and thus smoky cayenne peppers
Fighting: onions caramelized with cinnamon spices
Water: pine oil with slight lavender
Flying: oddly flavourless besides being salty, but nonetheless as addictive as junk food
Grass: sweet woodruff and elderflower, perhaps with a hint of mint
Poison: soapy, yet simultaneously heavily fermented
Electric: Intensely sour and fizzy, somewhere between sherbet and pure ascorbic acid
Ground: roasted coffee with hints of sesame and pumpkin seeds
Psychic: intense "bubble gum" flavour masking the bite of high-percent alcohol, almost like disinfectant; leaves a pineapple juice-like feeling on your tongue
Rock: under-salted cooked mushrooms with a note honey, but nonetheless crunchy
Ice: tastes like meringue but has the deceptive after-the-fact pungency of ginger
Bug: dried, ground herbs, especially sage, ramson and green tea
Dragon: passion fruit but unusually savoury; like a chutney served to something umami
Ghost: Strong rosewater aroma with raisins and dried cranberries
Dark: pickled plums and whole grain buckwheat, being exactly as satiating even in small doses
Steel: basically exactly how coins smell
Fairy: excessively sweet with some artificial flavouring that doesn't taste remotely like the berry it's supposed to be

It follows that trainers taste like their types plus how humans taste (i.e. sweat and dead skin). Whatever, I'm hungry now.
