Also even if a person doesn't want to personally engage with a piece of media hands on, I think enjoying the fan content from the outside is still a good way to go. Plus there's play-throughs and so on that can be a fun way to get more context for the ships.

I'm convinced all the people who are shit talking the game weren't pokemon fans to begin with and just hate it because the internet told them to.
The game isn't perfect, it has problems, I have problems with it, but it's legit one of the better pokemon games we've gotten in a long while.
The $100 price tag and day one announced dlc can absolutely go fuck itself though. I'm all aboard that hate train.
If buying isn't owning piracy isn't stealing.

Thats why i did not get the dlc it was not worth it but the base game was really fun. Honestly when i saw how little the funds for making pokemon games were compared to other games i basically stopped complaining it was pretty decent for its budget and the fact they used the same engine since th 3ds era.
honestly i blame nintendo's current ceos for pricing since they have been raising prices since they were put in power nintendo has had their scummy parts but they always tried to keep the market stable and affordable but the new ceos discarded that notion and went full cod corporate.

They're one of the largest media franchises ever and they've been priced as full price console games since at least Arceus, with fewer and smaller sales than most games. The low budget shouldn't excuse the low quality; its just another example of how they don't care about producing a good game and are looking to milk the fans for as much as they can.

I think some of the dev team cares, where at least some of them are people with talent trying to make the most out of the budget and time limit they're given. The higher ups though give the games a lower budget, and from what I've heard around the higher ups want the games pushed out for merch cycles specifically. I could be wrong in some regard here, and yeah it's unfortunate when I feel like Pokemon games could be setting the example for high quality games with how much money the franchise makes. Still I'm glad people are having fun with the games.

you should also consider the sheer crunch devs at game freak are put through. they were making scarlet and violet while making legends arceus, they were making legends za while making an entirely different game for the ps5 on the side, and so on. Nintendo ceos wouldn't be my first guess if we really had to point to a guilty party, but more like a mix of nintendo and the people that handle creatures inc, both on the business side.
