Can anybody explain what this ship even is? I've been consulting the aptly titled incomplete nightmare and is "Green" just a fanon term for genderbend Blue?

the tall girls name is green she's from the adventures manga along with the short girl who is yellow who are ocs for that story. in Japan blues name is green and she would be blue because their names come from the cartridges of the games

Both girl like the character red from Pokemon from the adventure manga. That's really their only connection I had that people shipped them or why.

The original Pokémon Red and Green were supposed to have a female player option, but it couldn't be implemented. The taller girl here is based on the cut FMC (so is Leaf from FireRed and LeafGreen)

Each of the characters in the manga were named after a Pokémon cartridge
In Japan, the games were first released as Red and Green, with Blue coming later as the updated third edition. Yellow was a variant of the game that was supposed to follow the story of the anime.

When it went overseas, instead of releasing the original games, they split Pokemon Blue in order to create the international versions of Red and Blue and they changed the male rival's name to Blue to keep it consistent with the cartridges

Because of this, the characters of Blue and Green traded names overseas in the Manga
