Does this really happen?
I guess I am biased since my lips are thick enough to block such things from happening. Then again my lips have never touched the lips of another.

The dangers of sudden surprise kisses.

^^ Take it from me: My lips are pretty thick too, but adding half a centimetre of soft flesh means nothing to a whole human head moving in fast. Diving-in kisses, especially surprise ones, are only good when there is enough control of relative speed between the partners, otherwise it could drive the lips onto the teeth behind them hard enough to draw blood.

Ouch. Very ouch.
And oh, yes it happen, even when not aiming for a kiss. One of my friend ambushed me with a surprise hug, and we managed to both clang our teeth together, and headbutting each other when we jolted from pain.

You don't even need to be moving very fast to cause tremendous amounts of pain. The human body is really sensitive and alarmingly fragile.

Yep, have done this as well, though I usually go for kisses slowly and controlled as to avoid this happening ;D
