is this anime/manga a yuri? like cannon-wise.
i tried to get into it but i wasnt seeing yuri so i stopped watching. does the yuri appear later on or should i give up on it? also should i watch the anime or is the manga better?

The anime is cringe incarnate and so is the manga for the most part. It jusy gets yuri subtext later on at around chapter 69 (Nice) is when the change begins. There is still cringe even in the later chapters but just more tolerable I suppose. The anime never got around to this part so the anime might not be for you. You can give the manga try but again, the cringe never truly goes away.
