If not for harem and polyamory fantasy stuff, I think Ucchi is a best girl for Tomoko. Ucchi is such crazy obsessed with her love. Such sincere emotions. She would definitely be able to turn Tomoko to girls love and they will live happily together or even get married since few Japanese regions now accept same sex partnerships at least.

Ucchi's obsession is precisely why I'm not a big fan of hers. Her interest in Tomoko feels shallow since she's not really in love with Tomoko as a person but rather, she's in love with the twisted version of Tomoko she has built on her head. And so far, she hasn't done the effort to change that and actually know the real Tomoko. In that sense, (once again) she's the opposite of Asuka, who started talking to Tomoko with a misguided impression of her and quickly came to know, and accept, the real Tomoko. Until Ucchi doesn't take that step, I can't consider here as anything but a gag love interest.

Chapter 152 openly reveals that only Ucchi has true love feelings towards Tomoko, while others just want to be best(?) friends despite their so called yuri bait actions. Ucchi face here is just a face or pure maiden fallen in love!
Somewhat similar situation happens with Yuzu and Kaede in SakuraTrick, love through pain of loneliness and endless waiting and fear of being rejected.

^Excuse me but what. That whole shebang was literally the natural result of Emoji's bizarre stalker crush at an arm's length contra the harem proper that actually directly interacts with Tomoko like normally functioning human beings... -.-;

^^That seems like a pretty poor read of the other's characters, especially Asuka's. My point still stands though, Ucchi hasn't done a real effort for knowing the true Tomoko. Yes, Ucchi has issues on her own to work out but she needs to understand herself first, before hoping to aspire to make something meaningful with Tomoko.

As far as I can tell, (apart from being a gag character) Ucchi is only popular because of how strongly she comes off. If Yuri, Asuka, or even Nemo ever showed any kind of irrefutably romantic feelings for Tomoko, I bet the Ucchi shipping would drop dramatically. ̄\_(ツ)_/ ̄

^ Saying that is implying Ucchi ship is popular when it's not even in the slightest. Ucchi ship is considered like the weakest one because of how the author always treat Ucchi like a joke character. And if you ask some persons, Asuka and Yuri will had already show romantic feelings, especially Asuka given how popularit is contrary to Ucchi.Anyway in the end, Tomoko will end with nobody because it's not a yuri so they will just endep up as a huge group of friends.

Fanart, doujins, and comments imply otherwise. Where are you getting this information from?

That's why I used the word "irrefutably". There's a much stronger case for Ucchi than Asuka or Yuri on this topic.

It was just a hypothetical.

A good part are just making Ucchi worse than she is in the manga. I can't call that being popular, at least not for good reasons.
