She's Scottish (or the Pokemon equivalent), so people thought it would be fun to apply the relevant stereotypes

I've seen that YouTube video of the Scottish female trainer complaining about exp. share way too many times. I should be able to quote it off by heart at this point, but I don't speak Scott.

I love how the female trainer is getting so much attention and no one cares about the male trainer.

This is what happens when they haven't given the (default) male trainer an interesting design since gen 4

^ I personally think that Calem's design was pretty good, but it was still inferior to Serena. Same with Sun and Moon.

^ Arguably Calem was the last "memorable" male trainer (the last good one was Lucas. fite me.)
Calem had the benefit of being the first customizable trainer in the series so he basically got a free pass in the design department. Sun (w/e the hell his name actually is) would have been an alright character, problem is every single one of his clothing options sucked, big time. There was absolutely no way to at least not make him look like a dorky 13 year-old or a bronzed douchbag. Made me regret my tradition of taking the male trainer every gen for the first time ever.

Another reason the female character is so popular is because people like to say she's Scottish and that she swears a lot.

The Scottish trainer memes are probably the biggest reason I'll buy the game. Going through that game with her impersonating Billy Connolly in my head will just be hilarious.

If the main character is Scottish, I can totally see why people pair her with Serena. They both hate the English, which is the perfect start for a beautiful relationship.
I wonder if it will be too much to ask for a Scottish gal to do a let's play on it with the thickest accent that she can muster. While doing everyone else in the regular fashion.

I think 3, 6, and 7 are the only times that's happened. So, less than half the protagonists. And the ones here have a good bit of Scottish imagery on them, so I think they'll be locals
