Is it worth to watch this anime? It seems popular in yuri circles, does it have actual yuri or at least subtext?

Read the Manga, not the Anime...

The anime only covers the beginning of the series, which has a minimal amount of yuri subtext.
The real subtext starts around the current midpoint of the manga, which is up to 140 chapters.

There's plenty of subtext, but the main thing is that all the main characters are delightful in the way they sort things out in general with Tomoko, with sex buzzing like background noise. They're all headed out into their lives and figuring things out in various ways with the dwindling time, and somehow it's been a joyous process for the reader (even when it's kinky and mean and Tomoko reminds us that she will probably always be kind of an asshole). Even the really awful characters like Minami (aka Fang, Fang Girl) become strangely compelling. What's really going on is not so much yuri or non-yuri as the messy hilarity of friendship and all the elements of it, and the way the mess makes life worthwhile.
And as A5PECT and others have been saying, reading the frequently agonizing first 65+ chapters of the manga is the only way to get to what I'm describing above.

So basically there's no legit yuri and its just fans shipping friendship as yuri by reading deeper than they should. So pretty much avoid it if you want yuri.

@tictoc nerd u forget that emoji girl is in fact in love with tomoko, stating so several time. theres also the parallel of how almost all of tomokos friends treat the kouhai just like how all the rest of the girls in her class treat her when shes around boys. theyre jealous

Yes, thus far it's only been subtext (emoji girl notwithstanding).
If you aren't into subtext then fine. But there is a reason Watamote attracts yuri fans and yuri artists.
I make it a point to strongly suggest readers start from the beginning, but ultimately it's their choice. Hell, it's fine if they don't read it at all. Especially if it isn't appealing to them.

I wasn't really on the Asuka ship until I read one of the more recent chapters, but damn she's great. Yuri is still #1 though.

Yuri has more history with Tomoko, but boy did Asuka open up strong.
If she keeps up the pace from the previous chapter, she'll be in bed with Tomoko before the end of the volume.

^ Yes, it's Asuka's call. Tomoko seems to be ready for anything. She wants a new life, the question being how new.

Pleas read it from the beginning, it may hurt but it will make build up relation between you and tomoko. Watching tomoko suffering from her social anxiety untill growing up and "accidentally" attract other weirdo + become little bit more popular. All of it, will feel more satisfying if you read manga from ch 01. Trust me!

The first half of the series really isn't that bad. I mean certain parts are definitely painful, but there's plenty of dark humor to help lighten things up a little. In terms of truly understanding and appreciating the characters it's a must.
