I think its just Alice being hunted by humans but she ends up sparing Marisa's dad and finds out her mom passed away so killing her dad wouldve made her an orphan, that and possibly Fuantei's Alice having mom issues. So the puppet show was to cheer her up and as an apology.

So, from what i can tell, Alice making up for killing Marisa’s mother for whatever reason via puppet shows?
