Gotta sing my praise for this too. As a trans woman I connect with Akane, she’s resilient and quietly inspirational. Plus Miwa and An together all form a lovely little family. This has a lot of heart and taste and a very deliberate feel, it’s all treated with empathic dignity, while having a softness to it. The sparse, sketchy art style gets a lot of mileage as well. Good stuff all around.

This series is goated. The comedy and drama are both done well. There’s so much charm and high energy and quirk to every other panel, from the poses to dialogue to expressions. And the plot is deceptively deep with a level of complexity that went way over my head without these detailed breakdowns. The pacing is great too, with near-perfect escalation in tone and stakes (perhaps dragged a bit during the last arc). There’s clearly a lot of love and effort and foresight put into the manga. Dorothy deserves an anime adaptation out of this, and a high-budget one at that.

I like the detail that though Gigi is affectionate with the other three, it only shows her matching the light glimmer effect of affection when arguing with Cecilia.
