花子 as Hane? Japanese people do some psychotic things with their language, I swear. Though... I went to jisho to see if it was listed there as a reading and it's not, but some of these others... god...

also re: page 6, 不可抗力 would generally be used to refer to the situation here, not physical strength, wouldn't it? So not "she's stronk", but "I didn't do shit".

On page 32 it says that both Momiji and Kouyo are written the same?

Both are written as 紅葉, yes.

How does that work, both in terms of how are the same characters making such different sounds

Pretty much all kanji have several readings, with some being similar (like 下 being ge/ke/ka/ga) and some being very different (like 下 being shita, moto, the o in oriru, the kuda in kudaru (from kudasai fame) and the sa from sagaru). 紅葉 as kouyou uses the onyomi readings of each kanji, whereas momiji is just a reading this compound has that doesn't even have anything to do with the regular readings of the separate characters. Why? Because Japan.

how would someone who's reading it know which set to use?

You don't.

Well, in this case it's a name, so you know because they tell you. Usually context also tells you which reading is correct for a character. Sometimes the reading is written seperately in so-called furigana, small characters next to/above the kanji. And sometimes you have to guess.

Big shoutout to the friend characters for going all "tee-hee let's leave these lovebirds to themselves" not even a minute after the MC said she hates the guy

I'd be so pissed at them in her shoes ngl

I believe the dialogue "なんかそっちの方が怖そうかなって" in the final panel of page 5 in chapter 10 is her saying she felt hating white would make her scarier as an evil general rather than "that'd be kinda wild wouldn't it", based on the response calling her 中二病 for it.

This was published in the anthology 貴方 (You) under the original title 恋をした私は. If anyone is interested in the cover image mentioned earlier, you can see it in the free sample too.

The anthology is from 2024.

Spent about 15 minutes searching on her twitter profile and weirdly formatted website to find that out. Yeah, putting this sort of info in the post would be kinda nice...

Contractually obligated to shill The plain girl sitting next to me, Aki/Momo (need to update the title on that one... well, I'll do it when I get back to it) and Childhood Friend, Big Love.

Why are the last five new chapters missing? So you can get the authentic reading experience of being cliffhangered on the new characters, of course.

Special thanks to Cue of Cuetie Scans for the DM that gave me a kick up the ass to get back to work on this.

Birdie Wing season one was top tier and honestly probably one of my favorite subtext series made it was just over the top enough but also serious. Plus I just loved both leads.

Season two... Yeah not so much huge let down and they kept it subtext instead of just letting them be together. Also the over the topness of it was handled so well in season one. It wasn't in season two.

This was released while season 2 was airing, so it wasn't quite apparent how it'd fall off back then. Ironically, despite me liking yuri and not liking sports anime much, I ended up enjoying it anyway for the golf parts where Eve carried the show for me. The yuri was a letdown, though, yes.

Oh, nice. I was wondering if someone would pick this up. Good artist, give them support.

I left the assistant's name in JP in case they ever hit it big and you can look back and say "oh my gosh she helped with Aizawa-san no wonder she makes such great yuri!" It definitely wasn't because I gave up on that last scribbled kanji and any Japanese name is a roll of the dice whether you read the kanji right.

It's just 陸 innit

The right side is pretty clear and that's the only radical you'll get for it with those rough strokes

Even if you can't read it, consider buying a copy. Bookwalker is easy enough to use.
