Mineshiro Kanae and "Mii-chan" the bird, share the same destiny. Both are being kept on a cage by Tsugumi, and if they don't get out of here they will die in that cage. The curse may or may not be real, but the guilt that keeps Kanae here is real, the one that keeps her alive by "drinking spit", by hating herself for "what she did". Tsugumi knows, but she ignores it as long as it keeps Kanae next to her, she thinks there would be no other way they would be together. The same way she keeps a bird in a cage, becouse she is scared Mii-chan would fly away. Once you noticed "Mii-chan" can also be a nickname for "Mineshiro" that last page feels so scary.
