I don't quite understand why Mr Lu wants his wife to be killed.
It would be easier if the story begins with Mrs Lu is a rich daughter and not a poor one, then it makes perfectly sense that Mr Lu wants a headline so because after Mrs Lu died, he can have all the money inherited to him.
However, Mrs Lu comes from a poor family.
And then he married her off and even sponsors her siblings so that they could get educated.
So what's the point of this marriage if first you painstakingly married a poor girl that you don't like at all, then sponsors them, only to be killed off?

It's a weird storyline to me, very weird one.
So, did they both trapped inside the mirror now?
I think he married her to make it look like he's a benevolent person. Elevating her and her siblings out of poverty to make headlines and further his reach and connections. Now that she's no longer useful to him alive, he can kill her off for another wave of headlines highlighting how good of a person and devoted husband he was/is. Like he said in this chapter, the news will spread his name farther than his current connections are able to.
