So will the series end next volume ?

Wohooooo volume 10 finally completed hu ? What nice news, I needed some happiness in my life atm lol.

Yeah I also think that Shima's mom had already known about them, I think since the festival really.

Man we are here to discuss the latest parts of the novels no ? Why do people start bitching about spoilers?

Just two volumes left ..... Sigh like I get it really we've reached a nice point with their relationship, Shima is growing a lot more comfortable with her sexuality and loving Adachi, Adachi has accepted herself and how she really do just needs Shima and how much she loves her and their relationship is pretty good now and withing 2 volumes I guess we'll get a nice conclusion to them and welp the real conclusion is the special volume really, idk how that was a special lol its truly the end of the series we get to see their life together as adults, a bit on them after they've graduated but before they move in together (and author teases us about Nagafuji and Hino relationship I do hope they end up together too), their first time (I wanted this one on the main novel ....), and like God damn both their deaths, and how the little alien jeeps bringing them together and how it seems their souls are destined to end up together, tbh I don't much like alien girl but that part was quite great

Like really thar special anime volume is super important lol.

Still idk if the author will do another Yuri or he'll go back to writing more weird alien stuff ..... A new Yuri would be nice really lol.

Welp there's quite a bit of Yuri novels and visual novels and manga that seem very unlikely to get translated that really make me want to learn Japanese too lol.

Man crescent moon and doughnuts is one i was really excited about but the translations just died ... The mc is so interesting, her type is one that's quite interesting someone that tried to date men but never really felt anything but really wants to fall in love and seeing her finally get that feeling with a woman and being confused but slowly accepting it .... Yeah I really want more chaps from that lol.

Hey I really gotta say the cover for volume 10 is probably my favorite till now, seeing Shima and Adachi holding hands and looking like a couple is just so cute and earned, like they've looked pretty close on other covers but this one just feels right, new illustrator did such a great job portraying them as a couple, they feel close.

Especially wholesome cuz Shimamura looks so comfortable now being close to Adachi, it's especially touching cuz this is the volume where Shima seems to have really accepted her love for Adachi and is comfortable with it after coming to terms with it in volume 8 and the awkwardness in 9 and welp just her firmness with Tarumi and making things clear and all.

Though volume 6 is a close second I really am a filthy Yukata lover and they look so happy in that volume cover lol they just look so happy and close in that cover, I could feel things were gonna finally go forward in that volume.

[...] but it did show Hino that the moms "you're not needed" or whatever wasn't said in bad faith and it means she has her freedom, guess mom knows ?

That was her father and his utter inability to properly express himself, I remember commenting about that here as well.

Both the mom and dad say it.

Adachi strikes this balance between being relatable cringe (the second hand embarrasement made it difficult to read some chapters in a steady way), while also being admirable in how she keeps reaching out and getting (most of the time) good results with Shimamura. It's like that Simpson's joke but instead of "pulling a Homer" she's always pulling an Adachi.

I think Adachi has the best encounters, like with all the girls she didn't fall in love with and that crazy fortune teller, but Shimamura's POV is the one I find more interesting for how she talks her way out of recognizing Adachi's feelings, into recognize them and accepting them, while simultaneously not being fully aware of how into Adachi she actually is.

I did get tired of Hino and Nagafuji, and Shou in like volume 4 or 5, so I didn't bother to read any more of their extra chapters from that point on, though strangely I didn't mind Yashiro in the anime extra novels. Maybe someday I'll go back to reading those parts I skipped.

Now I want to read it again.

Lol relatable cringe is a nice way to put it, but we'll I feel Adachi has the perfect balance of people wanting to cheer her on cuz even if she's a bit cringe and over the top we all see it comes from her inexperience of talking with others and she really doesn't know what she's doing but she still goes all out trying which makes it very wholesome even when she's doing crazy things, you can't help but want to give her a hug and talk things out with her lol, she's someone that could have been a very annoying character but the author really nailed her personality and struggles.

And yeah thankfully Shimamura is perfect for Adachi and she finds how she is very fresh, Shima really thinks people don't really have good intentions and are just full of boring things she doesn't want anything to deal with (and seems scared to form an actual relationship) but she finds how Adachi is pure and trying her best for her adorable and wants to keep seeing her.

It's definitely a ride seeing Shima change, she definitely was stuck in a rut she dug herself and didn't want to get out of cuz it was really comfortable for her, still Adachi's unending enthusiasm for her made her acknowledge that she really would be okay with a relationship, I do like how she wondered if she could take on the difficulties that a lesbian relationship would bring and how others would look at her and if Adachi next to her would be enough and was worried her love wasn't to the same extent as Adachi's but that one moment in the fog when she just wanted to be next to her made her realize that yes, she does love Adachi just as much (and her realizing not everyone would be prejudiced against them thx to her talk with pancho, which also helped her realize she might have always been into girls and looking at their assests lol).

Adachi's talks with the fortune teller are some of my favorites too cuz aside from Shima it really seems like she's the person shes trusted the most, even more then her mom really, lol and the fortune teller was also the one that has helped her the most being the only person aside from Shima being able to get her to talk to her and give her good advice, I still wonder of that fortune teller does have real powers too somehow cuz she always seems to know too much, and we'll aside from those 2 Adachi hasn't really seemed to care about anyone else at all, I kinda wish we get to see her talk to someone else but I doubt it.

Hino and Nagafuji .... Yeah they're there and I read their parts cuz I just don't like skipping but yeah it's definitely not as interesting though I am a little invested how it'll end, the part about the mom and her maid was kinda weird (poor maid, must be tough seeing the person you loved getting railed and having child after child, and Hino's !om doesn't look the type to play with her maids lol,) but it did show Hino that the moms "you're not needed" or whatever wasn't said in bad faith and it means she has her freedom, guess mom knows ? Welp keeping Yuri manga and all .... Welp hopefully they get a resolution at least cuz they're featured pretty heavily to leave us hanging.

Shou and Yashiro ... Well better then hino and Nagafuji at least cuz they don't take so much time and usually are there to make Adachi and Shima seems sweeter, though the time Yashiro snuck with Shima on the trip was too much.

Lol I feel you bro whenever I want to read a good romance I always want to just reread this, I just start from vol 6 cuz that's where it changes from great to amazing.

I reallyyyyyyyy want to read this but I just can't bro lol I'm gonna wait till the whole volume is out my heart couldn't take the wait.

I'm spoiling myself a bit but well I'm the type to get hyped about spoilers really.

I am quite sad thinking we're around endgame though .... I really wanted to see them move in together and live like that for a while ... Author said he wanted to end this in volume 12 so ..... Damn this is my favorite Yuri and just overall favorite romance tbh, the way we really got to know Adachi and Shimamura is unlike anything else I've read.

Looking forward to their kiss, we already saw their first time on the specials sure but lol well that was more of a tease.

Also looking forward to the one food Adachi actually likes Shimamura mentioned in the special.

Im gonna bring it up again cuz it really is true this Raemz illustrator really popped off, I think he really retained the feeling of non while adding some extra flavor, it'd more detailed and a little more realistic which I really liked, but still very colorful and beautiful, everyone is instantly recognizable and great, just a fantastic job, I'd wish they'd do volume 9 justice and add illustrations.

I actually quite like the way author handled Adachi's mother, so rare to actually show such a clean cut coming from a character towards their parents in such cold indifference, and well there's quite a lot of factors that go into it like Adachi's general dislike of communication and how hard she finds it to relate to most people and how her mother just wasn't able able to cope with it being a pretty cold person herself, they could just never really connect.

And yes it's sad but I like how it shows that some relationships just can't be salvaged parents or not we know for a fact deep down Adachi did have some issue with it from that very emotional call with Shima "are you like mom?! Do you also hate me" it truly weighed in her that she could never connect even with her mother.

But well as we see later on when the mom tries to ease up their relationship a bit Adachi realized that she just finds it awkward and can't muster the will to actually try and connect with her mother, it's too late, they'll never be able to actually have a mother-daughter relationship, not even a friendly relationship, Adachi is pretty indifferent to anyone and thx to Shima she realizes she can go on just loving Shima, cuz that's the type of person she is she just needs 1 person to fill up her world.

I understand some people won't understand her and feel that's sad even but I myself really understand that feeling and find it quite beautiful in a sense really.

Shima was able to fill up all of Adachi's sadness with pure love, and that's all Adachi really needs, we can see just how happy she is when together with Shima and I just love how this novel shows that even 2 weirdos like them were able to find someone that fit them perfectly, they grow and change thx to each other but at their cores they're both still pretty extreme, Adachi and her dislike of people and Shima's extreme laziness and indifference to most things, they can still connect with each other somehow and truly live just cuz they're them and they have each other.

I love there's no forced understanding of love, that all you need is a talk or whatever, to mature to see your parents loved you, no, parents or not sometimes relationships just don't work out, some things just can't change and can't be forgiven, Adachi's mom wasn't able to understand and connect with Adachi and now all that's there is indifference, I like that, sometimes you just won't get somethings.

Granted I myself just upped and disappeared one day after I turned 18 cuz I disliked my family so yeah lol most people confused by this are all saying"I love my mom" so I can see why I get it and they don't lol.

All the anime specials really feel like a final volume lol we get to see future stories of how their life went down and it's a confirmation on Yashiro being an alien, like yeah it's always been alluded but here it's a confirmation, and it's interesting she's just been going around helping them find each other in every world for thousands or tens of thousands of years, that made me really happy actually, they're both so weird and get lonely easily, sure Adachi really shows it but I think Shima has it just as bad, she's just able to cope with it better, so knowing Yashi is out there helping them find each other is just nice.

I am a bit sad though, seeing as they had sex here it seems we'll never get to that point in the story, I wanted it to go that far maybe follow them till college or when they moved in together, but seeing how we got glimpses of that here and how the author says he wants to finish in 3 more volumes I think we're just gonna get to see them finish high school at most

I am looking forward to 2 things the author teased, the kiss of course but also that Adachi actually had a food she really likes, just like Shima i really can't imagine her eating something with gusto so I really wonder what it is lol.

Yeah while the anime was pretty faithful just like the manga it wasn't really able to capture the magic of the series, all the internal monologues from Adachi and Shimamura, like sure a lot of it was implied pretty well but it's just not the same, the novels go so in depth with both characters in a way I haven't really seen elsewhere, it's the best character development and characterization I've seen definitely recommend starting from volume 1 it'll feel really fresh seeing the while thing.

So no news on a new volume ? Its been quite a long while since the last one no? Like 6 months or so? .... I'm guessing we're still looking at like another year or year and a half till the next one no?

Iys especially sad considering Shimas the one with such a fear of death loss and change, it seems things have gotten better after a lifetime with shima but well you know still quite f'd up she's the one to outlast everyone.

Beautiful stuff though that Yashiro will be helping them get together in different lives, now that's a good friend right there, I did always get a bit annoyed she came up to just grab food and cuntblock them every once in a while but with such a tight aftercare package I'd gladly welcome a loli alien at my dinner table for every meal.

Indeed there's nothing quite like this series when it comes to Yuri, romance, and amazong character development.

You know who's a characters thats kinda overlooked that's played a pretty important role and os very mysterious, that fortune teller lady, I always enjoy her big juicy red lips description lol, anyways she's really like Adachi's impetus in a lot of important moments, she helped her realize her feelings, she's always giving her good advice, she let her be able to finally talk to someone abkut uer feelings and sort herself out, she's a real nice gal.

And well while she seemed to just be cold reading her when she noticed how much Adachi really did need someone to talk to she actually went serious and became a good friendish sort of person to her, also she says a lot of stuff that makes you wonder if she actually has some powers or something.

Ohhhh another anime special first one was pretty good hope this one is the same.

Hey guys do you all think Shima is gay? Her conversation with Pancho kinda made it seem so with the whole asking her if she looked at girls and thought they were pretty and wanting to fondle some breasts, and Shimamura realizing that indeed she did both, I just found it interesting she could be gay, since Yuri tends to go with the "I love you cuz you're you, gender doesn't matter".

Well Adachi does kinda fall into that category though of loving Shima cuz she's Shima but even she had some difficulty accepting it at the beginning and kept telling herself she was "normal" but I think it's more of being scared what Shima would think about her, when Shima accepted it she completely stopped caring about both being girls since her love was accepted, now it's just Shima wanting to be careful.

The questions are pretty interesting, so the next volume will be around February eh? Valentine's again haha, c'mon Shima what do you mean it's got nothing to do with you .... Adachi's gonna be sad if you forget, she's gonna have to go for another subtle hint like last year eh?

Yea, I just need my collection on the shelf. I appreciate the official translation but that's it lol.

I already read them and they definitely lived up to expectations. I actually cried during the last part of the third novel. It truly felt like this was the end. I felt kind of lonely.

Now I plan to buy the Otherside Picnic because I need it so bad and the anime is...well...what it is. I also picked up Roadside Picnic because I really like the setting.

I'm glad you enjoyed them man, I'd have felt bad if you didn't after hyping them up so much to you lol, what would you say was your favorite volume? I've heard a lot of people say 1 cuz it feels the most real and that 3 didn't have as much impact.

Eh did the anime version turn out bad or something ? I just got volume 4 where things are supposed to get spicy so I'm quite excited to read it, you couldn't have picked a better time to pick up the novel.

I don't really follow stuff outside of manga/anime/light novels/visual novels since they already take up so much time lol, though while I don't really like science fiction stuff that book does sound interesting.

I didn't read them because I was busy with Saeki Sayaka novels, but they definitely have a quite different feeling. Like there was this time Shimamura used the word 'shit'. I have no problem with the word itself, but it feels very strange since if I remember correctly no one used such words in fantranslation. I don't think I'm gonna read them, at least not any time soon, because I prefer the fantranslation, but I still plan to buy all the volumes.

Oh then I don't really feel like reading them then lol, same here I'll keep buying them but just for showing support for the Yuri scene.

So you did get to reading the Sayaka LNs eh? Still reading them? Binge them? Did they live up to expectations?

Yesterday volumes 1 and 3 finally arrived and I want to ask your opinion on official translation. Didn't read them only some parts, but it seemed quite strange. It was very different compared to the fantranslation. But I am very happy to be able to experience both versions.

Have you read them yet? Any noticeable differences/changes? I've actually been buying all the volumes that have come out but I haven't read them lol, every time a volume comes out I feel like re-reading the series but I always just re-read this version.

Ehhhh maybe when they catch up I'll read the official translations.

Personally, I believe Shima centric volumes are more popular because Shima is a lot more difficult to understand. Like I really love Adachi, she is just so damn cute, but we know she is thinking about Shima most of her time. After all these Adachi centric volumes we do understand her pretty well. But Shima is not that clear about her feelings. In Shima POV chapters I can pretty much guess what Adachi is thinking about, but the same is not true when it's Adachi POV. You have to be in Shima's head to witness all those subtle changes. But I also need for balance Adachi's POV, when she is describing Shima's innocent smiles or blushes. So in other words, Shimamura's development is just really enjoyable. However, seeing Adachi becoming less jealous over every little thing is just as good.
Or just I relate to Shima more lol

No, no I get you I also said the same and indeed Shimas thought process is a lot more ... Mhmhmh enjoyable in a sense? to follow through cuz she really is such a complicated person, indeed with Adachi we already know that she's always thinking about Shima and how to get closer to her but with Shima every one of her actions is always interesting in what she'll choose, from at first when she was still kinda reluctant and indifferent to her dates with Adachi, to now where every time Adachi takes her hand she has this little mental breakdown of now just happiness and embarrassment but also looking around worried what other night think.

God do I wish we could have seen things from her POV on volume 9 when she told Adachi she loved her.

Still even if I was kinda joking, Shima has had the best moments in the series from her POV, the first confession, the second confession while we got both Shimas was the focus, vol 8 and their first time together naked and lusting after each others bodies.

Haha nahhh it's just shima making it more interesting.

Still Adachi now that she's calmed down and is finding ways to make shima happy is also a very interesting POV, like I've always liked her don't get me wrong but now it feels like she's finally gonna evolve from just getting what she wants and look to make shima happy, which is very nice.

For me, 4,6 and 8 are my favourites.

I mean, that sleepover in volume 4 was cute as hell, when Shima let Adachi sleep on her arm and how she didn't want to wake her up. I just loved that.

The volume 6 is really Shima-centred and as I always love her internal monologues, it was bound to be one of my favourites. It feels like we really get to know her here, she finds out Adachi loves her, confession happens and they finally go out. Truly a wonderful read.

But I also have to say that volume 8 is my number one. This one is also full of Shima's POV and that talk with Pancho is the highlight. She finally understands her feelings better. This shows that talking with others can truly help you to understand yourself better. The whole fog scene and Shimamura being honest was so satisfying. And so was the whole novel.

Volume 9 could have been the winner because Shimamura acting on her real feelings, blushing and properly talking to Adachi is definitely one of the best chapters in the whole series. Unfortunately, there was just too much Hino and Nagafuji (not that it was bad, just too much).

The next volume has a great chance to be the best one if it won't get sidetracked. Really hope so.

Hahaha I feel you man it's so hard picking a favorite volume when they're all so good, you basically out half the volumes as your favorite lol.

Indeed that talk with Pancho was just so on point, in a sense you could say it encapsulated what happened right after, the author showed us the talk in a physical sense, Shima was lost and wandering exactly she was feeling and then she finally realizes that she just needs Adachi next to her, fantastic scene.

And again it really feels like Pancho makes Shima she's actually into girls, like there's really an "wait I do think that" when shes talking about if she's constantly looking at girls and thinking their cute and wanting to grab fondle some breasts, while Adachi indeed just loves her regardless, Shima is a lesbian I think which is interesting, so yeah she really needed that talk with a third party that helped her open up and just let out her thoughts and bounce off some ideas.

I just really wanted a kiss when they were laying down together.

Shima centric volumes were what everyone voted for, is it just cuz Shima more interesting with her thought process or just that the author is biased and gives her the best scenes?

I'll agree in volume 6 we did finally get to see more open Shima, who she really was, or more like how she wanted to be, and the most important thing is that she was finally the one taking steps forward to be with Adachi after 5 volumes of her being kinda apatethic towards the relationship it was soooo satisfying to finally see her be the one to take the initiative, especially after Adachi's heartbreaking call about how she was the only one that cared and stuff.

I feel you there, while I've enjoyed the what ifs and stuff, the author just goes too fucking off road too much, like it's bad enough with the alien girl and the what ifs and the regular Hino and Nagafuji stuff but that 3/4 of the book just with those 2 was brutal, it was interesting sure but I dont really care much about them, also it was just sad hearing if that maids story, how sad seeing your love one get pounded and working for her, it was weird.

That Christmas date was amazing though, definitely one of the best chapters we've had.

If indeed there's no more side distractions volume 10 could take volume 8s place in my heart as the best, that kiss finally happening maybe?

I do love volume 8 for all the reasons there is to love about it. BUT that would probably go second for me. I have to go with 6, simply because of the way a certain part was written; from calling eachother to hangout, to just thinking of each other, solely saying each others names as the days pass leading up to the festival. The way it was written was so beautiful and touching to me, I'll never get over it.
Adachi...
Shimamura...
^^ya know the part!!!
AND COME ON that second confession was top tier, of course the first one was too, but I really liked Shimamura chasing after Adachi instead of letting her go. Adachi biting her tongue to get her words out instead of swallowing them, all while fireworks were popping off in the background. And other great various moments.
God it was great.

I do indeed know what part you're talking about friend it's also one of my favorites.

To me its especially beautiful cuz Shima was finally excited about seeing Adachi in a romantic sense, till then it had just been seeing poor Adachi be the only one invested in their time together and finally we saw Shima hoping for their reunion, beautiful indeed.

You know I always thought it was weird people said Shima had no feelings for Adachi whatsoever at that moment, like she seems pretty damn excited to me at that time, can't stop thinking about Adachi, happily talking with her, waiting to tell her what she meant in their bath together lol, like i thought it was obvious she was feeling something, especially with how detached she had been to everything till that point.

And of course following after her finally, you ain't getting away this time Adachi you coward, lol it seemed to convey, it shows how much she's learned to care for Adachi, the other times she'd ran away it always stopped at a though "ah, should I have gone after her?" But now she was getting that confession one way or another, no matter how much blood it cost.
