I don't recall Shimamura seeing Adachi as a burden

Yowch, no takers on my Shimamura/Adachi conspiracy theories eh? I've only read the manga, so their relationship has probably evolved. Maybe burden's the wrong word? She just thinks of her as like a little sister she has to take care of. Which is fine, she doesn't resent her for that, but she doesn't see it as a source of strength either.

Do you guys think even if Miyagi wasn't so insecure, she would still be a spiky lil guy? I dunno, I just prefer to read the story as that she wouldn't be, because I like the idea of Miyagi being touch-starved and Miyagi standing in Miyagi's way like a true dumbass. But maybe you never stop being a spiky lil guy, even if you're a happy spiky lil guy, y'know?

I think it's funny to imagine a meeting between the four girls.

If this happened, Miyagi would leave immediately, Adachi would spend the whole time talking only to Shimamura, and Sendai/Shimamura would spend the whole time having a warm friendly engaging conversation that neither of them gives a single flying fuck about. Like they would promise to be bff forever, and fully intend to never see each other again.

I hadn't really thought about it, but you're really right, this series has a lot of really interesting parallels to AdaShima. Like if in AdaShima, both girls were yandere perverts /j.

I sort of just see Adachi as a kinda sad cute puppy, but Miyagi has all these spiky edges because she resents Sendai for being popular and acting above it all etc. But also, Miyagi is also just a kinda sad cute kitten. Shimamura and Sendai both feel really responsible for the feelings of others, in a way that makes them keep people at arms length in case those people become burdens. But in Sendai's case, that has made her into this lonely person who wants to connect (with Miyagi only, but you know, baby steps). That's really the key difference I think: Shimamura sees Adachi as a burden, but Sendai thinks the opposite of Miyagi.

I'd love to see how Miyagi reacts in a situation where Sendai actually gets upset at her for physically hurting her.

I think Miyagi would be nice! I remember recently Sendai was pouting and sulking about Miyagi's part time job, and Miyagi makes it up to her by cuddling with her in her room. Without ever acknowledging that she was trying to make her feel better. It was nice to see Sendai acting spoiled, and as expected, folding like a fucking deck of cards.

I would like to see Miyagi propose some sort of next step in their relationship! While it's hilarious that Sendai goes, let's be roommates, then basically later clarifies that nowhere in the definition of roommates does it say that roommates can't have sex, it would be nice for Miyagi to demonstrate how she feels about their relationship... Otherwise sooner or later Sendai's going to pull out rings being like "will you be my forever roommate" and then later clarify by "forever roommate" she meant "married lesbian"

Is she secretly an uber yandere?

YES the girl is down bad and it's EMBARRASSING. She keeps trying to put Miyagi in skirts so she can stare at her legs, like what an idiot pervert oh my God. When Miyagi gets sick, she wishes Miyagi would be sick longer so she can take care of her longer... Like isn't Sendai supposed to be smart? How is there room in her brain with all this gay

Miyagi is not a lot better, she spends a whole arc thinking about Sendai in a collar (necklace). Neither of them want the other to be employed bc it would be better for waifu to be at home. Massive dumbasses, I can't believe them

Sendai: How was your day?
Miyagi: Great, but it'd be better if Sendai-san wasn't here. (when in English, it would be like, "Great, but it'd be better if you weren't here.")

Somehow even the mistranslation is getting across how indirect their communication is LOL

But I acknowledge this could very well be attributed to the fact that I may not be as passionate about ShuuKura as others are.

press x to doubt

Maika more than anyone else should suspect something by this point in chapter 350 or wherever the JP is at

bro, Sendai's like publicly foaming at the mouth whenever Mio mentions Miyagi, like to a degree where Noto is stepping in like, hey haha please don't murder my girlfriend for speaking to your girlfriend haha. I'm waiting for chapter 900 or something when they can finally be a couple publicly and everyone in their lives just goes, "yeah we've been knowing this".

Comparing it to Umina in ch. 70 is kinda interesting because you really see the lack of interest Umina has in Sendai? She's pretty happy to talk about herself and her boyfriend and so it's a lot easier for Sendai to misdirect her. She says Sendai should get a boyfriend without any care to Sendai actually wants, so she's never going to figure out what Sendai actually wants, is gay. Whereas Mio is interested in Sendai and Miyagi to a degree where it makes me kinda concerned for her health. It's harder to tell what Maika suspects because her brand of kindness is that she doesn't try to pry into things that she senses would be uncomfortable for Miyagi. Which is kinda like Sendai, actually.

Ah, is that so? Nice work by Sendai. I swear by the end of this series Sendai is going to become an Art of the Deal type Miyagi whisperer. Opening offer "go to the festival in yukata", close with still getting a festival date.

I'm not saying that it's not OK for Miyagi to resist sex, I just thought her angst is really funny given how much Sendai LOVES Miyagi, to like a degree where literally other people find it scary. Which is something only the reader knows, with both sides of the story. I don't blame either of them for it.

I think it's kind of interesting why Sendai likes Miyagi so much. Sendai realizes pretty early on that staying with Miyagi is comfortable, because Miyagi isn't interested in keeping up appearances and doesn't have any expectations of her. Even from the first request that Sendai read an ero manga to her, Sendai could have walked away at any time and Sendai wouldn't have had to feel bad about it. Miyagi just made the request randomly to mess with her anyways. So ironically, it makes Sendai feel empowered to do these random requests, because in the rest of her life (at least in HS), she doesn't really have the right to refuse how people in places of authority are treating her.

It also helps that Miyagi's requests all end up as kind of... self-owns.... The girl tried to bully a foot fetishist (in the making) into licking her feet... I don't know, I'm probably biased bc I'm a Miyagi bottom believer.

Now, that they've graduated HS, Sendai just sort of wants to be next to Miyagi in whatever way Miyagi will allow, because Miyagi is SO scared of her own feelings, and my reading is that Sendai understands that. I think when Sendai asks for an even casual kiss from Miyagi, Miyagi really does go through a whole thing of like "does she like mean that or what's going to happen to our relationship or I'm going to start acting so weird or actually just no". I think Sendai knows that. I also think that's cute, to be so spooked and cautious all the time. But I understand that in a real relationship, that would be awful LOL. You ideally would want a partner who doesn't have an attachment style that's like, "traumatized shelter rescue"

Sendai: "Let's wear yukata to the festival."
Miyagi: "Don't want to."
Sendai: Shows her a bit of physical affection
Miyagi: "Don't want to." kicks her shin

Might be me Miyagi-coping but I think they're going to go to the festival anyways. Miyagi usually does mean "no" when she says it, but it's almost always just because of how bad she wants to say yes. Sendai wants to show her physical affection? No, but not because she doesn't like it, it's because she's afraid that if they do get intimate, Sendai will eventually get tired of her. Girl literally asked to move in with you and spent probably like a full year having wet dreams about you, but through the Miyagi reality distortion filter, this translates as "Sendai is making fun of me, Sendai's going to leave tomorrow, Sendai HATES me". Meanwhile Sendai's deadass, if I could put the door to Miyagi's room in the garbage I would. Like girl, the door's not the one that's unhinged. Oh my God they're so stupid I love Shuukura so much.

idk on the other hand, the whole series is Sendai Miyagi-coping so maybe I'm very wrong

I think it's a bit crazy to expect every character to have absolute relevance to the main plot or to move it onward. They are there to add dimensions to the cast and the world. Whether that is too distracting from the real issue (whichever that may be at this point) is up to anyone individually.
I don't mind honestly, because the main plot is brewing in the background. You can very clearly see where Uta or Kaoru are being shoved in to make that clear. It can also be a bit (read: very) suffocating to always be in the middle of the very painful drama. Seeing Uta's life outside of that confined space and how her friends influence her with their stories certainly can be positive.

Personally, I was in it for the painful drama. Oh well, I guess I don't have the patience for this kind of nuance. I only got through maybe half the stories in Kiss and White Lily for My Dearest Girl.

"My Unrequited Manga Chapter". I mean, what's taking the author so long to put us out of our collective misery regarding this story?

Sometimes I get the feeling that this author would really rather be doing an SOL featuring Kuroe & Co. instead of the storyline this is supposedly about.

Yeah absolutely, I have the same feeling. I have no idea what the storyline is supposed to be about at this point. I really liked this manga in its first few chapters that only really centered around Kaoru and Uta's relationship, which were actually about Uta's unrequited love. I just don't really find any of the other relationships in this manga compelling, especially when Uta and Kaoru have been basically placed on pause and there's this really depressing air of defeat around their relationship. And that's different from angst, I think. Like, how can I be convinced that Uta is longing for Kaoru when every other chapter is about this secondary world built around Kuroe, and Uta's just sort of standing around?

this is probably the cutest thing I've ever read. the two main characters are awkward turtles which i relate v strongly with. i don't even mind that much that like the subtext is tearing me apart, it heals my soul soooo much to see something this wholesome.
