I get on the floor

Imagine having an argument over gender politics and what is between Nekomiya's legs when the whole point of the story is that what Nekomiya's "real gender" is or what's between their legs ultimately doesn't matter.

I'm glad that there's at least a few people possessed of enough sanity on this website to recognize that being bisexual isn't a sin nor is a little consensual physical roughness equivalent to nonconsensual abuse.

Hey all, I apologize if this is breaking the rules of the site somehow (I checked and I don't think it does, but I could be wrong) but I'm curious about the fact that I can't seem to find any mention of Bocchi Kaibutsu to Moumoku Shoujo anywhere on the website. Is there some specific drama that happened where it was determined that it shouldn't be allowed on here, or some such? Or would it be okay if I made a discussion thread on it?

"Hey, that was a pretty good chapter, I wonder what the folks in the forum are saying about i-"

Oh lawd.

Okay but instead of arguing about the morality of this relationship can we instead talk about how good this last chapter was?

Ah, yes, it's time for my daily dose of "people on Dynasty get mad that Itou Hachi draws oneeloli".

Never fails to satisfy!

Is this a Galette release? I didn't see any indication of where it was from.

As some of you know, the Steam yuri community had a bit of a scare a few weeks ago when developers/publishers of games with mature content in them that were being hosted on the Steam storefront - including yuri games like Kindred Spirits on the Roof and many others - were sent notices that they would need to remove the adult content from their games by the end of the month, or risk having the game itself removed from the Steam storefront altogether. A few days later, after users pressured Valve to reverse this decision, Valve informed the previously warned developers/publishers that they would be "re-evaluating" these notices.

Today, Valve made a blog post informing Steam users that, yes, all games with mature content will be allowed to stay on the Steam storefront. This includes yuri titles like the previously mentioned Kindred Spirits, and all other games that have content that some might potentially find "offensive".

I, personally, think this is great news, and wanted to share it with everyone, since I'm inclined to believe that I'm not the only person that was worried about how all of this was going to resolve.

themusicman500: On the subject of whether the relationship in this story is being depicted positively or not, I'd say no, but with a caveat. The author is presenting an obviously disgusting and awful thing, but leaving open the question of whether there's some beauty to be found in it too despite the awfulness. It's a theme that Gen Urobochi explores a lot in his works.

You put it far better than I ever could have; thank you.

I wrote earlier about how I feel that, whether or not Jinno likes the relationship, that it's not a healthy relationship for either Jinno or Kousaka... But, at the same time, it is obvious that the relationship brings happiness - albeit unhealthy happiness - to both of them. This emphatically does not make it an okay or a good thing, but, like you said, even in a twisted situation like this, there's still some "beauty to be found in it too".

Is Kousaka preying on Jinno okay? No.

Does Kousaka preying on Jinno make Jinno happy? Yes.

Does the fact that this makes Jinno happy make Kousaka's predation okay? No.

Imagine that, a work of artistic fiction that's nuanced and complex. I guess that's too much for a lot of people, though, who would rather prefer some sort of black and white, simple plot to follow... >_>

Last two cents: I think portraying it "as is" rather than hamfistedly trying to emphasize any sort of awfulness on Kousaka's part is more effective than the latter, since it allows the readers themselves to draw their own conclusions about the relationship between Kousaka and Jinno, which is - in my opinion - a far more powerful thing than delivering a pre-developed conclusion from the get-go.

Clearly what Kousaka did was both illegal and wrong. But when it comes to Jinno's mindset, we as readers can see into her mind and it's very obvious that she's genuinely attracted to Kousaka and desires to be with her.

I think the most important thing to consider here is whether Jinno wants the relationship with Kousaka or not, it is very clear that the relationship is not healthy for Jinno, something that she doesn't understand because of her age.

Just because a 14 year old girl wants something doesn't mean it's good for her if she gets it.

(Not arguing with you, just putting my two cents in.)

Did nobody else notice the part where Kousaka said that she had been in the same position as Jinno before?

I think that makes it fairly obvious that Kousaka was abused in her youth like how she's abusing Jinno, which has given her a twisted sense of this somehow being okay or correct.

Seriously, I have no idea why people think that this manga is painting this relationship in a positive light. It's not healthy, for either Kousaka or Jinno, and that seems very obvious to me. Kousaka is obviously a criminal and an irresponsible adult in all senses of the word, but both are in vast, deep emotional turmoil over this.

As some of you may know, there was recently a boycott against Lezhin regarding the way that it treated its authors, including flat out not paying them their share of the proceeds from the purchase of their comics. I participated in that, and haven't used Lezhin in months.

However.

I've noticed that many big names in the non-JP yuri scene (Sungwon, Ratana Satis) have continued to publish their series on Lezhin (Elixir and Lily Love, respectively), as have other artists like Lee Eul (Blooming Sequence), Choonae (Dallae), and the Kang Unnie/MissPM pair (Moonlight Garden). We've even seen the introduction of a new series, Girl in the Birdcage, by Koer.

...to say that I'm hungry for more yuri and that I really, really want to get back to reading comics on Lezhin would be an understatement. But, at the same time, I don't want to go back to purchasing coins and buying comics on Lezhin if they continue to mistreat their authors, and this latter concern far overrides my former concern.

That being said: Does anyone know the current status of the Lezhin boycott and its negotiations/treatment of its authors?

I'm disappointed that there isn't more PriPara yuri, because my eyes have just been opened to the glory that is MiPhie.

Have y'all ever considered that the rapey, pedophilic tones are, perhaps, intentional on the part of the author, and are a component of the story that the author wants to tell?

Question, if anybody knows the answer:

How well is Galette doing right now? In other words, how much of a difference would one purchase of my own be for the magazine? If it has a circulation in the thousands, I'll put it off until I can actually afford, but if it's only in the hundreds I'll probably buy it right now just to make sure it keeps going, and tighten my belt in other areas.

I've been on the Lezhin boycott for well over a month now, and while I'm glad to be sticking it to a company that treats its authors and artists like so much trash, I've also been hungering for webtoons, and I'm honestly not quite sure where I should look for "legitimate" access to them.

When I first found Lezhin, it felt like a god-send, because here was a website where I could directly support the authors and artists working through a company that contracts with them. Of course, that turned out to be untrue in a vast and wide variety of ways, but I'm still looking for the same thing. I know that It Would Be Great... is published on Foxtoons, which I assume has an otherwise quality library in addition to that, but Foxtoons also doesn't appear to be in English, yet - hopefully some time soon, though!

All that aside: Are there any English versions of webtoon sites like Lezhin where Chinese, Korean, and other non-Japanese Asian artists publish their content, preferably in association with the website itself? Obviously one where they treat their artists and authors like actual human beings would be preferred.

I messaged Ratana Satis and the Three Musqueerteers on their various social media to see if they're setting up shop somewhere else, especially because I really want to read Lily Love season 2 with Ploy and Ice, but... Not on Lezhin. :/

so maybe I will post link to our answer

Thank you very much for letting us know! :D

Yeah. And who knows if the authors will even be able to get just that measly amount from Lezhin at all?

What a joke. I'm fairly livid over this, but I'm just trying my best to get the word out there about it, more than anything.

Cross-posting from Reddit. The link explains it all, so I won't bother re-iterating it here.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm inclined to not refill on coins on Lezhin until this mess gets sorted out. I'll spend what I already have stored up, but even then, it feels a bit sketchy...
