wait this might be my new favorite Yuni o___o if there's one trope i LOVE, it's a tender surprised realization that both had noticed each other. it's a little heavy on the "venting about work life" theme (which i mean, i get it) over pre-romance between the characters, but it still really caught my attention. i hope we can see these two again someday!

i did see Kishi-sensei's tweet and i understand the "ordinary day" ending concept, but ngl it still feels like a bit of a copout to only show 2 characters for a series that's known for its many beloved pairings. like just in the background doing PE class normally....

also i need ononana to sustain me :') the honoeli finale arc was AMAZINGLY done though so i can't complain too much!

What? Isn't this mistranslated?? Elisha says something along the lines of "The submission was marked as a collaboration... it had written on it to call this person too if it won... I won [too]...!" In other words, Honoka had included Elisha's name with her manuscript (the one they had the big gay promise about in 289, that she found out about for the first time in 290, which won and they were celebrating in 304) without her knowledge. That's why the publisher calls Elisha second after Honoka, and why their call is a shock to her. She did not submit anything herself, and was focused on assisting Honoka; Honoka secretly crediting her is a massive gesture of love and gratitude, which leads into the tender tone of their conversation after that.

this feels rather tonally scattered to me. i didn't feel like we got a lot of depth in the characters' perspectives, even when Senpai was telling her tragic backstory

the childhood friend is cute. any chance there'll be an amazing side couple instead of a cliche love triangle here? (i doubt it)

Is 304 shocking to anyone else?! Ed and Elisha being close prior to her becoming an exchange student, and also conversing primarily in Japanese way back then (I read the raws a few weeks ago-- only Ed's "Noooo, oh God" is written in English). I usually love the effort at cross-cultural details in this manga, like the example of Elisha naturally using dollars and Honoka having to convert it to yen in this same chapter. So the sudden lack of detail in this development kind of bummed me out.

Then again, it more or less serves to give an explanation for why she's staying with him in the first place; he's a family friend or relative and she had visited him previously. I may be a tad overly invested in the general worldbuilding and continuity in this manga lol

you guys haven't read the ononana arc upwards of 5 times?? (/s) This chapter SHOCKED me when the raws came out the other day. Haruka's advice in 222 being "mess up on purpose" seemed a little incongruous, so I wondered if maybe she secretly did have an umbrella in 89... I NEVER expected it to be CONFIRMED ON-SCREEN IN A FLASHBACK.

Haruka pining from the start is still definitely a retcon imo-- they were clearly originally written as strangers who became friends and then more-than-friends. but I don't mind because it's sweet and it actually ties in better with their 2021 prequel chapter; 298 suggests the possibility that Haruka caught feelings way back then while Onoda forgot their first meeting

i got so excited about time finally moving that i went and checked the raws (289 is the most recent normal chapter, also the prequel chapters were actually from the 2019-2022 pairing compilation books, not recent). anyway idk if the Chads check this thread but there is one more page of 289 that's missing here

This manga lost me years ago but it somehow came back with what I always wanted with Shiho's arc... Her type of character is my favorite and I love dramatic pining with a positive/hopeful outcome :) I can't wait for the anime now!

As a musician with debilitating social anxiety, this manga's themes hit a little painfully close to home (except I played all the way through university and never made one friend the whole time). I must say though, as a classical musician, I find the portrayal of concert band as stifling/uninteresting to be a tiny bit insulting, lol. Anyway, this author's music stuff always strikes me as thoughtful and well-researched, it's fun to read!

Still hoping for this! I loved comparing the two versions.
