I'm gonna guess, that even if I don't like it, the incest part was made so it would make senses the reason why they choose betrayal, if they were step siblings or even cousins I think it would not be "that" hard, the first because they're not blood related and the seconds cause it was pretty normal back then (im gonna say back then even though I know it's a game, but it set in a period of time) that kind of marrige, so being siblings makes it a more taboo kind of relation that nobody would approve and no law would allow, so they really have 0 options

Maybe the author have to think about a reason without explaining so much, you have to remember the artist have a number of sheets to draw in and possibly they want to dedicate a lot of them in what they think is important, also, many people looks for a excuse to break up in order to not hurt the other person, if the teacher says is because of the age gap the protagonist will probably feels bad with herself for not “being born early” but if it something like marriage (Wich to me is also a valid reason) not being legal for gay couples the other part will think is a problem out of the relation and therefore she was not to blame

I think a lot of people can relate with the Mc family, sometimes it’s not about parents being absent, is the fact that because they give you a roof, food and education they think is enough to manipulate their child, my mom used to do a lot of that until I call her out. I think is the first MC I can relate so much with.
