There's nothing weird about rooting for that outcome, against all odds. A story where a boy pretends to be a girl as a means to an end is begging for an ironic outcome, and what could be a more poetic irony than the fake girl becoming real? Mainstream media is full of those kind of plots, especially in romance. Fake dating inevitably becomes real, and people love that and view it as beautiful. But somehow a fake girl can't become real, in fact the very idea is too silly to consider? It makes perfect sense to call that bullshit.

thank you for your kind words. the main fear here is from mainstream media perspective, sexuality and gender are just toys to be played with temporarily before being put back in the box forever... the author also seems to primarily write heterosexual romcoms, so there's some concern ao being into girls and momiji crossdressing will just be narrative tools as a means to a heterosexual end.

for us, dynasty's readership, we likely consist of a lot of sexual minorities and are statistical outliers compared to the rest of the manga's audience... for me personally the manga would be a disappointment if it went that way. some of the straight readers would probably be fine with it though.

but i like the way you put it about an ironic outcome, why should ao and momiji have to conform to het romcom genre? perhaps the manga must change its genre to suit a lesbian romantic ending.

hmm... something i was looking forward to how the manga would handle was momiji's voice, which was glossed over sadly. the author had enough foresight to understand voice is an issue but not enough knowledge to know of voice training and its intricacies, sadly

i suppose the next thing to be addressed is how kouyou mistakenly believed that crossdressing once would be enough to make friends with ao, which i raised an eyebrow at. that this was written at all indicates the author wanted us to see this aspect of kouyou's character, and also wanted us to see ao express outright she only wants to hang out with momiji.

strange thought to have, but i'd probably be more interested in jun's character and arc if he was a girl.

early pages are very difficult to get through, the persistent behaviour is very "romcom film persistent protagonist man keeps trying until heroine capture target gives in", and the repulsiveness of that trope persists

but page 24, is an incredible shot. momiji i do like the way you are taking responsibility actually. become a girl! forever!!!!

since it's only chapter 1, too early to say how it will go, but im interested in the hardships momiji might face. will she have to learn makeup on her own from scratch? how will her appearance vs her voice have her treated in public? she wears a skirt exposing her thighs, will she have to do hair removal? how aware is she of hormonal issues, will she know to reduce DHT before balding kicks in?

how dedicated is she, will she stay like this for life? will she look the way she is despite all her family records/birth certificate saying male? will this have her treated differently in school and/or work settings? will she face any kind of societal accusation that she is a predator and ontological rapist? is it too early for me to be referring to momiji as she? (probably but i will do it anwyay. i believe the only purpose of men is to become women.)

no idea where the manga will go from here or if it will handwave the potential issues that are going to come up, but for the time being i look forward to momiji's resolve to becoming a girl. ...and maybe back off on the love confession thing a bit now that konno knows what's going on.

yurika arc, yurika arc! im excited for possible arc for the worst character in the series. love her so much

that end page in chapter 1, when she is shaved bald, hits really hard. the manga present it comically which i think she does because it happen a long time ago, but it is a part of life i think we all relate to as one of the really shit part of adolescence.. never being allowed to have autonomy to shed even a tiny part of masculinity

also feel terrible for yoripi about 1 year hormones and no breasts because i'm the same but six years. may the breast fairy bless us
