Is this sequence a manga original? I don't remember it from the novel (it's been years though).

The novel went pretty much straight from Claire's rejection to the trial IIRC.

The confrontation with Alter was in the novels as well, but it ended differently. Rae gives up hope after that, and Manaria talks her into trying again at the trial. Then the trial happens, iirc. I distinctly remember thinking the whole final chapter felt like it was over too quickly, so I much appreciate that we've got more buildup to the trial in the manga. Good stuff.

If we judge by the speed of the manga vs the LN, then I doubt it will end quicky. I am sure the trial will be dragged out, assuming we head to the trial first already.

I mean, the preview for chapter 65 was posted the other day. Chapter 65 is called "Joy To The World", (temporary title TL,) having quite the contrast to the past 7. (preview's here: https://x.com/Inori_ILTV/status/2098426878407381038)

Also, the preview literally shows the crowd having gathered for the trial.

Between that and all the context in the series, I don't see how it could possibly be postponed any longer.

Kinda sad next chapter is the series finale.

There's been no announcement that 65 is the last chapter. I think the epilogue with the kids will be adapted.

Hi, chapter 45 and the volume 10 chapters (46-50) were not covered by Aoi Shoujo Scan. An alternate fan translation exists, but while the scanlator said they planned to post it here, they never got around to it before going under. Personally though I recommend defaulting to the official english if it's available to you :>

i'm sorry but i find the designs of the women of this manga so sad, they seem to come straight out of a misogynist's head with those proportions and the design of the prime minister is so sus, it resemble a antisemitic caricature. I find it so sad because the story of the manga seems kinda interesting

Fair and fair. I can't blame you for the former (plus it's worse after ch1, lots of nipple-less nudity, this one's awfully seinen) and I'm unable to comment on the latter. Consider me cautious though.

I don't really get why the big Osamu Tezuka 90th Anniversary celebration's Princess Knight rep was handed to Bureidou. This is what they're known for...

As someone who likes the 60s manga, I think a modern Princess Knight reboot in this vain but focused less on boobs and more on its characters could be something real special. Especially if it was yuri! My favorite part of that 60s manga is that despite it being so old, Sapphire's desire to just be a regular girl still rings true. Speaking as a trans woman, it's brutally realistic for it to hurt her so much to have to put away her one dress forever. But if you want a modern take on the series, unfortunately you've got either this or The Ribbon Hero, which...I haven't seen yet, but it sounds even more removed from the source material than this manga. (Does it even have the transcoded thing?? [EDIT 8/25 no it does not lol it's barely even princess knight related])

I personally find this sort of hyper-sexualization funny as hell, (admit it it's ridiculous,) so it doesn't bother me. And for a number of other reasons, I'm eager to scanlate this manga. But like... can we get a Princess Knight reboot that doesn't come with a massive asterisk?

^It is, it's even credited as such. (Princess Knight is the English title). I'm more surprised by the fact it seems to be official. I knew we'd get a new take on this one sooner or later, though so not too surprised either.

Is the series news to you? it was in the anniversary magazine TezuComi, there's a bunch of Tezuka stuff in there.

Honestly I find it pretty lacking, it's cute, it's good. But it just feels like any modern fantasy/adventure manga.
I guess I've been spoiled by other retelling of Tezuka's work. Even the art, while good isn't anything unique.

Guess I'm just a sucker for transcoded yuri. I'm really excited to get further into this one :>

Correct*. And the series is tagged as yuri for a reason ^^

*It's very loosely based on it. I don't do translations, my Japanese sucks, but having read the 60s version, this appears to be set at some point in the future of either that or the original 50s series.

Between the relationship of Lene and Lambert being prominent, and that the latest novels have Rae and Claire's daughters in love with each other, I'm not sure i fw this series as i used to

Is the manga ending after this? If I'm remembering correctly there's a few more arcs that were in the LN

The sci-fi arc thing, the two kids, and the wedding haven't happened, I can't remember the order. Pretty sure it's not just "The End" after Claire is freed in the LN... unless my memory is failing me

The manga will not be covering the "sci-fi arc", that would be act 2. Considering we've yet to see an announcement that the series is ending with volume 13, there will likely be at least one more volume adapting the LN2 epilogue and maybe the wedding stuff? fingers crossed.

I'm a novel reader! Mannic has it backwards. Quoting the novel:
"She'd fallen in love with a maid and, despite her best efforts to suppress her feelings, ended up having an affair with the woman."
The implication in the following lines of the novel is that the maid left due to the power imbalance; Manaria being a princess and all. The "rape" thing is an invention of the manga which the anime kept, and an odd one as well considering the maid. comes back in act 2. and is mad at rae for the entire act for stealing manaria's attention.

Rae stilll thinks like she is playing a video game in which in order to achieve her objective, everyone and everything is disposable.

Couldn't have put it better.

Lily herself recognized in a past chapter that Rae never actually turned her down, just politely brushed her affections off so that Lily could keep being useful to her.

But it doesn't take away from my point. Poor girl got strung along so she could be used as a stepping stone

I'm sorry but I honestly never liked Lily and she always knew that Rae only liked Claire she never once led her on to make her think that she had any feelings for Lily at all anytime literally try to say she wanted to be her number one or even said she would be her mistress she continued to say she only likes Claire... So her saying she hates her is very delusional to me and I hope she's finally gone from the rest of the story

It's a bit more complicated than leading lilly on. She might've TOLD Lilly that she's only interested in Claire, but Rae also kind of just allowed Lilly to continue to pine after her- and when it was convenient, Rae took advantage of that relationship. Most notably, she did so to get access to the Tears Of The Moon and cure Yuu's curse. I gotta say, I didn't catch how messed up that was until Lilly herself pointed it out in this chapter.
