The discussion on Niji is some insane "I just figured out how a narratives basics work" lmao of course if she were the protagonist things would be framed different. The same goes for every single other character in every single story.

I don't get why people are arguing in her "defense" like she is some misunderstood antihero. You can like her as a character and at the same time admit she is not a good person/has good intentions currently, for whatever reason. The whole point of this manga is to deal with prejudice in many forms, especially sexual, and how that can cloud your view on who someone really is or how that defines their character/morality, i.e., having a "disgusting fetish" makes them a horrible, awful person (which was very well shown by Remu's flashbacks).

Like many others have said here, the way Niji deals with her issues directly hurts the other characters and she doesn't care/is not aware. She does not have Remu's best interest in mind. Even if she were the protagonist and we saw from her POV only, the main thing that would change is that she would become an unreliable narrator, because she is constantly gaslighting herself on her own fantasies. If you really still think she has any real care and affection for Remu right now, you're basically in the same headspace as Niji is ("I'm doing what I think is best for her based solely on my opinions and ideals and never consult her wishes on it").

Someone should really tell them about OnlyFans and Patreon. That would solve the work situation real easy.

Hoping the trip is another wholesome chapter!

Considering that double suicides weren't exactly uncommon in old school class S, I shouldn't have been surprised that this series would go this dark

Honestly I was expecting the senpai to be some sort of ghost or apparition in that sense, when Sayori was asking herself why no one ever noticed the senpai before - but seeing as it wasn't tagged Supernatural... Still, senpai being dead the whole time would STILL be less of a twist than the box-cutter

Igarashi's previous manga, Dominant, (untranslated) was a very dark romance with a few infamous scenes involving a hammer and a guitar. Now the box-cutter joins their ranks in Japanese fan memes. I'll cover Dominant more later when I translate Igarashi's crossover art for the two, but Japanese fans have been waiting for the other shoe to drop while Igarashi teased whether AriSaku would reach that level of crazy. Dominant was innocent too, until the twist ending of volume 1. And now we're here at the twist ending of volume 2.

Do you mind spoiling the twist in Dominant? I'm not fluent in japanese but am very very curious to know what I'm getting myself into with AriSaku LOL

Also, I'm kinda glad my "something ain't right" radar is never wrong - ever since the first chapter, I got the feeling this one would have more than it meets the eye (and knowing nothing about the author's previous work). It's something about the paneling and the drawing style that really evokes, not quite "horror", but a thriller of some sort, an unnerving feeling of a deep, dark lake which you cannot see what lurks beneath the surface.

Not sure if the ride is gonna be satisfying, but I'm here for more different yuri.
