I'm still curious about Yurika's statement that she wanted Aoyama from the previous chapter. Yurika mentioned that she was in a Class S relationship before with a senpai, which has implications of a cycle of abuse, but there's another possibility too. What if Yurika's senpai was just playing a game, but Yurika is actually gay? It certainly doesn't remove any of her abuse towards Aoyama, but it would make sense in Yurika feeling unfulfilled by Class S, feeling like her feelings were being discounted by the game.

That's obviously just speculation, and I'm not against the idea that Yurika is just a narcissist abuser, but at the moment it feels a little too simple for this manga.

With how much the author put into changing Aoyama's personality over time, I've been guessing that Yurika specifically was looking the most shy, naive, and manipulable person she could find, and was only interested in the power imbalance/grooming aspect. (Which would likely have a cycle-of-abuse origin from Yurika's senpai.) Now Yurika doesn't even bother looking at her since she's grown aggressive.

I'm guessing she even made sure they were scheduled on the same days, and was getting handsy on day 1.

If there's one type of toxic relationship I can't get enough of, it's dependency.

Not usually a fan of gender swap manga most of the time it just feels like fake yuri.

But this first episode was interesting and it's got an agegap which I usually love so will give this a few chapters to see how it fleshes out.

Maou-sama seems pretty committed to living as a girl here. Even her ponytail is made of hearts.

Oh hey I was just thinking about this series earlier this week while reading Miss Medic's Diary at War

Did they even ever specify they were first cousins or not?

I'm reminded of Mushoku Tensei, where Rudy and Eris used the term "cousins" even though they were in distant branches of the same family.

Like how everyone is commenting on the unsettling ending to the chapter, I did some rereading to see if I could figure out where things were going. Rather than something horrible happening, I'm wondering if we're going to get a disconnect between what the characters feel romantically. This chapter definitely felt like the point where Haruyo 100% falls in love, but I'm wondering if Kasumi even understands the romantic side of everything. In chapter 1, she summarized Hana Monogatari as "depicting friendships between girls with flower motifs". None of her narration has explicit romantic feelings. And the dialogue points out their disconnected reactions here last chapter.

I'm also wondering if there's any significance to her only reading the first volume. Are there tonal differences between the earlier and later works?

In Ch4 we randomly learn about Kasumi's middle school friend committing suicide. This doesn't seem that far out of place.
