aww man, I love the symbolism in how Aya and the random guy talk about her music preferences, while it is a direct paralell to her dating preference - thinking how things would be easier if she was just into the same stuff everyone else is.. and then Mitsuki interrupting that whole convo :D

am I the only one hoping the series won't end after they confess/get together? it'd be fun to see how their relationship changes afterwards

True, but the significance is that crystal clear mental image and her realization about how it made her feel. Mitsuki pictured Aya there, sad and lonely and missing Mistuki, and that made her feel something that hit her as hard as a Shounen protagonist awakening their latent superpowers for the first time lol. Presumably "I'm making her feel sad and lonely because I'm not there with her. She wants me there with her. I want to give her everything she wants for Reasons. I'm getting my dumb ass to prom asap."

narrative-wise I do believe that picture of prom is real, Mitsuki doesn't have to be physically there for the mangaka to show the prom

the curious part for me is, that something caught Aya's attention and she looks up at the end - is that because Mitsuki arrived in the meanwhile, or did something else happen?

Come on seriously they need to confess now. I mean Aya probably since she's the one who seems to be more aware of being in love. I feel like Mitsuki hasn't fully realized her sexuality and is sort of friendzoning Aya. I feel like I need to be convinced Mitsuki has feelings for her lol.

I honestly cannot tell with Mitsuki.. on the one hand she is clearly treating Aya differently from others, literally got upset/jealous that Aya had a crush on "Onii-san" and how she could never be that person, wrote that goddamn love song for her, and thought it was obvious that if either of them would go to prom they would go together.. yet she doesn't exactly act like she has a crush on Aya when they are together

I have two theories she either a) hasn't realized that her feelings for Aya go beyond simple friendship and is not conscious of her own queerness yet (she is pretty young, and from what we know did not hang out with many kids her age) b) she knows what her feelings mean and thinks it is obvious for Aya too and not something she has to say out loud (see: how nonchalant she was about the love song and being prom dates, and she heard in detail about Aya's crush on "Onii-san")

edit: okay lol I went back and re-read the whole story (it was supposed to be just a few chapters, I swear!)
and on top of Mitsuki being completely aware of Aya's crush on her, she was also aware that she flirted with her a few times (though she didn't plan to do it, she did realize some of the things she did!) and when she hugged Aya after the school bullying thing and coming to school in her own style, her voice over literally says "thank you for loving me as I am" sooo uhh yeah I would she has to have a pretty clear understanding of the entire situation.. it just seems that Aya is not confident about what their hug meant and she doesn't think that Mitsuki thinks of her as anything more than a friend (technically, she hasn't said anything to Aya directly and Aya is not great with English so she didn't understand the song Mitsuki played for her and probably had trouble reading the love song as well! and Mitsuki even has a "Me To Her" song on her CD so, yeah, it's not even just one song..)

trying to imagine the budget for the music if this was turned into a faithful Anime adaptation,

maybe it wouldn't be an issue if one of the big companies funded it

If Narita got a boyfriend and kissed him before the girls even confess to each other I'd laugh

Though it does feel like with the flowers that the confession coming...maybe...?

I feel like Narita is meant to be the token aroace friend who helps out the main couple bc he likes romance but not for himself (like Maki-kun in Bloom Into You) however, I would absolutely love it if he turned out to be gay

is this what the anime was based on? I liked the general idea of it, but the romance felt too one-sided in it for me.. let's see how this version compares

I do wonder what will come off the whole Joe x Kanna thing. it seems the two of them have not really discussed their feelings and relationship at all, despite there being so much history - and Kanna might have been thinking about what it means that they have reconnected and she became part of their life again. the jokey comment about acting like Mitsuki's aunt must have really hurt her - because she did want to be exactly that. altough it is extremely unclear to me if she and Joe still have romantic feelings for each other, and whether Kanna had someone overseas (there seemed to be an older guy with her in the overseas montage, looking at her fondly). regardless if they are going to end up together or not, I just hope Joe finally clears the air with her

on the Mitsuki - Aya side I am super excited! it seems Mitsuki is going to skip the music party and head over to the prom! the bouquet HAS to be for Aya!! I really wish we knew just how aware she is of the fact that Aya still wants to date her but the way she immediately asked "didn't you want to go to the prom with me?" and how she literally wrote a love song about her it MUST mean she knows (and let's not even mention their "you only like me bc of onii-san" fight and how she became confident in showing up as her true self at school because of Aya!)
