^^ idk I thought that was a understandable scene. Natsuki just telling Shizuru although she doesn't love her in a romantic sense that Shizuru deeply does, Natsuki does deeply care for Shizuru as she was the one that was mainly there for her and helped her with most things. I would kinda say that Natsuki felt like her relationship with Shizuru could be described as Aleksander and Emma's relationship (from Veil), where it's not really platonic, but not really romantic at the same time, it's just in-between. Where you can just show affection just for the sake of showing affection, like how you just give gifts just to give and not expect anything in return, no thanks or anything equivalent. I personally like how they made it that way, where there could be potential for them to be together, but overall just shows they have a relationship beyond than being romantic partners.

^^^^ it's not that she's short but in a lot of doujins back in the 2000s Sakuya's abouts of working for SDM was mostly theorized or had a lot of fan made-up stories of how she started working for the SDM. Which this in particular is Sakuya working for the SDM when she was a child and was adopted by Remilia. It's been awhile since I've read touhou doujins lol but I do remember in particular that there was quite a bit of touhou doujins like that when it came to Sakuya's whereabouts in general

^^ I play the game but I've been seeing more NTR and Ayabe than I do with these two on the JP side of Uma. And idk, but I've seen more dialogue of Ayabe getting along with NTR (and being more paired with each other in game) than I do with Curren Chan if anything, that's why I'm saying that, and NTR had Ayabe are literally having matching Christmas outfits so IDK maybe I am crazy lmao (but also might be bc I kept constantly keeping running into NTR x Ayabe when trying to find Curren x Ayabe for some reason lol)
I get the whole dead sibling thing of them being able to relate to each other but ppl like rivals falling in love and they're like cat x golden retriever type of ship so there's that
