now Yvonne next time you tell her you hate her more than anything else in the world try not looking so deeply pained about it, haha.

It would also help to not loudly agonize over having to hurt and bully Elsa right before claiming to hate her. Those two things kinda don't fit :D

I'm not sure how it's handled in japan though.

In Japan,to my knowledge, it is assumed that only the woman hast the duty to take care of children and there is greater pressure for them to just quit their job after becoming a mother.

So, honestly, I do think they guy is entirely in the wrong to double down in the societal pressure instead of supporting his wife. The "being irresponsible" comment is what bothers me the most. It is one thing to make the suggestion of extending the leave because he thought there was no other choice. It is another to directly admonish his wife to wanting to work as being a bad thing.

Yep, in Japan women having to take care of children is pretty heavily enforced to this day. It is almost unthinkable for a man to stay at home or cut back while his wife continues to work. The problem is, in the individual case it is often the most reasonable decision to follow this traditional pattern, as women's career advancement is severely limited by corporate culture and similar factors, meaning they often have worse jobs already. Also, career advancement often still requires a ridiculous amount of overtime, frequent relocation and many other things that make it completely incompatible with contributing domestically. These factors combined with learned behaviour mean that women do the vast majority of housework, ironically even in cases where the woman works more or is more successful than the man.

Worse still, social systems etc are not at all set up to support women's return to the workplace. Daycare places are rare, expensive, and often don't even cover the hours of regular full-time work, so even if a family finds a daycare place it often still means that the woman will only work in an irregular (usually part-time) job that pays much less than her husband's job and offers little to no career advancement opportunities. And it needs to be noted that quitting your job and going to a different place is much less common in Japan, particularly not for jobs with actual career prospects. You won't leave work as a female department director with good promotion prospects and then be rehired by a different company in a similar position a couple of years later, as managers are usually promoted rather than brought in from outside.

So TLDR, being a woman in Japan is hard, which is one reason why becoming a mother has become much less popular and many women instead choose to remain childless or even avoid committed heterosexual relationships entirely

So it's over, huh?

It's a nice story and the art is sublime. But I agree with what others have written, it could have been so much more, so I still feel kind of conflicted.

As it is, the story is still a good and nice yuri, but after the first half it looked poised to become a great yuri, an all-time favourite, the Arata Iri we wanted and deserved after the forced rushed ending to Sougou Tovarish,.. So knowing what could have been leaves a bit of a bitter taste in an otherwise still high-quality manga.

On a positive note, this series was a significant improvement when compared to previous series, so maybe the next Arata Iri series is going to be great and the one after that a true masterpiece? I'm definitely up for experiencing their final form :D

Ah, this is a special challenge: how do you seduce your childhood friend if you are already acting like a couple anyway? I can see it happening that Minami snuggles up to her or something and Yuzu is just like "ah, just as we always do, isn't it nice to have such wonderful platonic friendship?"

It's kinda funny, when I write a story I often obsess about making a believable setup and plot and then things like this manhua come along with the most ridiculous and convoluted of setups :D
Maybe the lesson is to just stop caring and write what you want

Uh, development coming up? With her knocking on the door and all? Also, that pill case looks a bit ominous, so far there wasn't any mention of Jing Xiu having a medical problem or anything if I recall correctly

This is honestly not really my kind of story as I usually prefer more wholesome manga or ones with at least 1 character I can like and here all of them are kinda shitty in their own way.

Still, I am interested to see how the plot develops, like, what is the endgame for this story? It'd be disappointing if it's just gonna be a romance with either Fuuko or Nanase, that wouldn't really feel like progress at all. So probably have everything blow up horribly in some way is where I see it going and in the end everybody is even more miserable than they are now. It's a kind of morbid curiosity that keeps this series going for me

"Hmm, I've been writing maid fantasies for a while now, how can I freshen it up a little? That's right, make it two maids!!!"

Seriously though, I can sorta respect that Zanka knows what they like drawing and just go for it. That's real dedication there

One possible direction for this to go would also that gyaru realises that classmate and store guy are similar, but thinks they are siblings or something and then approaches the girl in class because of that

Yeah. I'm pretty much expecting the first panel of the next chapter to have her go "... and come work under president Amano!"

Pretty sure she's been working under her for a while. :P

(Sorry, couldn't resist...)

From what's been shown so far it looks like she's more commonly working over her though ;)

Can anybody tell me what SSR means in this context? I guess she's not calling her cousin/brother a Soviet Socialist Republic

There... hasn't actually been much of a story here, or is it just my senility-induced forgetfulness? All 24 chapters are marked as read for me, but I cannot recall anything about their contents other than Gugu likes Xingxing, Xingxing likes Gugu, they get together, and now, the end. :-(

I mean, you're right, there is very little actual story basically no drama, just cutesy slice-of-life stuff. I think that's fine, this manhua is definitely no masterpiece and not that memorable, but it is a light, cute read and never claims to be more, so I can respect that. In the end it's personal preference if such a light meal is enough for you or if you prefer a bit more bite, but for me it will be ranked solidly in the middle of Yuri stories I read

Seeing this and her behaviour previously, I think it is fair to say that Hiyama has the social skills of a potato

Nice and calm, I like it. The sister and gas station guy were unexpected, but maybe they're just both similarly airheaded?

Never understood why so many people seem to hate Manaria. I like her quite a bit (I actually like her more that Lily)

Her character is just too convinient

She's definitely Ms Plot Device, which is annoying and bad writing, especially when compared to how other important characters are treated in the web novel

I personally also hate Manaria for how much she abuses and bullies Rei, I mean, at some point Rei is actually at the point of breaking down completely and that's just not cool, no matter if you had "good intentions" or not. Let's not forget that she literally put Rei in hospital as well... Overall, she's just a character that behaves shitty and seems to always get away with it, which feels really unfair and kind of like her actions are supposed to be okay, which they are absolutely not and under no circumstances ever would be

Still, I'd probably be more happy to see her as a flawed but interesting character if she wasn't just such a convenient plot device

I think it's really cute and calm, everything about this series just fits very well and so far the ending seems to follow the same tone as the rest of the series. I can understand why some people might be frustrated with this as it is kind of dancing around romance but never goes there, though I personally think that makes sense, even though Matoi might not be fully aromantic, she's still definitely asexual and doesn't seem to be that bothered about romance either, it looks to me that she'd be more than happy to receive only intellectual affirmation from Yuriko

Also for anyone wondering, the Japanese on the letter is a confirmation of attendance to some kind of formal event (very polite language being used) My guess is either Matoi's graduation ceremony or the lesbian couple's wedding
