suddenly, lesbians everywhere;

I have 4 complaints about this chapter:

1) That wasn't Kirishma's drink that spilled. Whoever left an uncapped drink near the laptop is partially responsible.
2) The owner should've gotten that laptop insured if she was going to leave it out for customers to use.
3) It can almost definitely be fixed, why are they talking about buying her a new one?
4) No sexytimes in the chapter.

ETA: On page 3, did something get lost in translation? The girl is saying it's "sacred" that the island is completely surrounded by water... isn't that just the definition of an island?

As GA said, it's a way of translating "toutoi", which is kind of otaku slang to label something as precious/sacred, that makes you feel something akin to a "religious" experience. A level up beyond "moe". It's sometimes written as てぇてぇ. (tété).

Why she would think that being surrounded by water on all sides is a religious experience is open to interpretation.

This made me very excited... hopefully more chapters are added although I feel like they won't be.

I'll eventually do it.

When I have the time & motivation to see it trashed here.

Its finished. I am sure the scanlation team will do a good job.

Yeah. And you're doing a really good job at getting banned for not using spoilers. Again.

YOU CAN'T EVEN WAIT A DAY BEFORE POSTING SPOILERS, CAN YOU? IS THAT WHAT THEY CALL INCONTINENCE?

Why is this a chapter release? Why isn't it just under the image section?

Because that's how the scanlator released it and we respect the scanlators' wishes.

Let's take a minute to appreciate the job of the scanlator on the SFXs.

I'm well placed to know it's a really tedious job to typeset all the small SFX and most scanlator don't bother, but Yuricchin did every single one on a 76 pages doujin.

Kuddos.

I updated chapter 25 with Narita's real first name. According to Agu's instagram, his first name is "Megumu"

Neither Aya nor Mitsuki knew whether it was Kei or Megumi. In the end, he angrily underlines "Megumu".

Also, he's the one who stole Mitsuki's glasses on the yearbook photos.

Translator here.

To be noted, in the original Japanese, Narita-kun ends some of his sentences with the particle わ (wa), like よかったわ (I feel relieved/glad) which is a girly way to talk, but a pretty untranslatable nuance.

"Boys" are more prone to end their sentences with よ in general, which sounds a bit rougher.

I'm not sure if it's on purpose, but Narita-kun, to a Japanese, would probably sound a bit girly.

Maybe it hints at some bisexuality.

May I ask if the things the author post in their Instagram will be translated here too? Really now is just an image with the title behind and another a drawings with just little writings here and there. But in case something more is going to be post there~

Sorry if the question is disrespectful and thank you always for your hard work!!! <3

I'm not sure there's much to translate there.

It looks like some yearbook/graduation album pictures, with a few words (as per the title given by the author)

On Aya's pic there's her name and "shut up" with an arrow toward an angry smiley, and on the bottom her name (Oosawa Aya) with a few music notes and "Sorry".

On Koga's pic on the bottom there's her name, Koga Mitsuki, subtitled "Onii-san", a hand with "Yayyyy !!" beside it, and on top, a spotify logo and a drawn question "megane ha?", which means "where are the glasses?"

Reading the comments in Japanese, it looks like it's at the end of their third year I think, so yet another peek at the future.

もう逃げない = I won't run away no more.
Mitsuki was quoting the lyrics here on Chapter 24.

I fixed the translation. Thanks for the heads-up.

Tbf, it was something that could only be known in hindsight, after reading Ch26.

Iirc, author said it was a story about teens being troubled about their sexuality, NOT their gender.

There isn't a speck of evidence Mitsuki ever wished to be a guy. She's just not conforming to the standard of girls around her, be it what she wears or what music she likes, but that doesn't make her any less of a girl. People equating "dressing/acting like a guy" with "wanting to be a guy" are trying to erase butch lesbians from existence.

i appreciate Aya confirming without a doubt that Mitsuki is indeed still her crush~

tbf, I use "crush" because that's what Amarrez used in the beginning of the translation, so I kept it.

But in JP, she says "oshi" which is slightly different and hard to translate.

Huh, I just saw this extra on Twitter and noticed the joke was that Aya used "てば," which to my understanding is just a cutesy copulate like です and dosen't have a direct translation, and was curious to see how the translator worked around it. I feel like if I were to translate it I'd maybe have Aya say "I told you it was, like, totally this way" or something, and then have Mitsuki say"'like' she says" but I'd be curious to hear other people's ideas.

It's not "cutesy". It's used all the time by Japanese people.

And I don't see how it's a joke. She's just insistent and Mitsuki is blasé.

ってば is a colloquial emphasis on what's before to add force and a feeling of irritation or incitement Like "come on!" or "I'm telling you!".

I decided to translate it as simply "Told you!" because space is limited in the bubble, and it conveys that meaning.

Announcement by the author on Twitter:

It's not over yet! LOL!
The author and these two feel very blessed that so many people have been reading this story... Thank you so much.
The main part of the story will be put on hold this week before the next part begins, but I hope you'll keep reading! I love you!

I though Miyako's birthday is on January 1(based on the extra chapter).

Or is August 1 her idol birthday or something?

Good remark.

I checked after reading your message and maybe I had read too fast, or my brain only registered the 1 and thought "January", but yeah, it's actually written August 1 on the page.

I'll correct that.

I really dislike the certainty with which you seem to suggest that Satsuki didn't use language that indicated a masculine reference in the "I like him." part, not only because once again you're taking a shot in the dark denigrating other people's work without knowing the source material, but also because in this instance there's a pretty reasonable way out of that dilemma in English: "I like Rika."

I suggested "I like Rika" to the typesetter elsewhere. For that very reason.

And while I don't have the raws, I've translated enough Japanese to know that there's no reasonable way for Satsuki to have said "I like HIM".

They may have used a gender neutral address, like こいつ/あいつ but using "him' (kare/otoko/etc) is for situations when you want to be specific about the gender (like for a boyfriend) and the author wants the reader to know they're talking about a man. And I doubt it's one of those situations.

And I don't denigrate anything, I'm just warning people that there's no indication of yaoi in the original, like a "I like him" could lead to think. Satsuki isn't struggling with gay panic.

I would have handled that differently is what I mean, because it's an important point in the story and the way people talk about Rika when he's not there is not gendered at all.

People be warned again: in Japanese, I'm pretty sure the blond guy doesn't employ any pronoun.

The translator went to great lengths to gender Rika as a "he", even in the mouth of the other characters, and it's coming back to bite them, because Japanese can do completely away with pronouns when referring to someone else. So, by using masculine pronouns, the translator changed the relationships dynamics.

Here, the guy is probably thinking that he likes Rika as a girl and that's what makes him conflicted, because it's really important for Rika to be seen as a boy by someone, so it's a form of betrayal.

When people read "I like him" in English, they read it as yaoi, when it's not the point here. Satsuki isn't gay. He's attracted to Rika as a girl.

Good intentions from the translator are misleading you.

On the other hand, Rika seems, at this point of the story, to be attracted to girls, so, in the end, this manga may end up completely Het.

OMG, such a cliffhanger! And now we have, Narita's full name, hahaha. Kei, good one.

Tbf, it was only a kanji (恵) with no indication of how it's meant to be read.

So I had the choice between "Megu/mu", "Megu/mi" (Kun reading) or "Kei", "E" (On reading).

I went for Kei, but if there's a reading later, I might change it.

Funnily enough, when this kanji is used for a girl given name, it can be read as Ai or... Aya.

Some people noted that the translation is weird.

It's not that my skills worsened, it's rather that the original was somewhat nonsensical to begin with, so I did what I could.

The author obviously isn't the best writer.

tbh, the title was rather obscure to me too.

久々に後輩に会って元気をもらったら思わず〇〇しちゃった話

I'm not sure what she's supposed to be doing. Maybe the hug.

It's a quarterly series. So you won't get updates very often.

Where is it being published? Is this GxG's/Medu's web platform? Did they get a print magazine other than Comic ExE? Is it in the latest ExE and I just missed it lol

It's only on comic medu's platform afaik.

GxG and Yodokawa herself just linked it on their twitter.

Culturally and historically, women with very pale skin have been considered a canon of beauty in Japan. And black teeth too while we're at it.

Wearing a tan is the mark of the peasants who spend their time outside.
