There’s nothing in the rules that says a dog can’t be a catgirl.

At 80: “Y’know, weirdly enough I think I’m not a lesbian. Thanks for the fun times, anyway.” (walks away)

I mean, Nekomiya provides a total of two (2) front-facing possibilities: that she’s a cis girl fucking with you for kicks, or that she’s a trans girl fucking with you because she’s scared. The cross-dressing “option” is just solipsism on the part of the protagonist and misapprehension on the part of the author.

There are crossdressers/men in drag that aren't trans. Nekomiya's "backstory" (we dont even know if that's even true) can be interpreted as a closeted trans girl, but at the same time nothing refutes the possibility that it's really a he who just enjoys crossdressing. Freedom to wear what one likes has always been something some men wished for.

I’m not gonna say no crossdressing guy has ever had issues with body image because that’d be utterly unfair, but what crossdressers don’t experience is gender dysphoria as a result of how they’re pressured to present in the world. What Nekomiya describes in her original claim is absolutely a “trans narrative”, only furthered by the protagonist’s “I don’t date dudes” dismissal and grotesque obsession with her genitals.

Again, she may be cis, but nothing she says in the manga suggests boyhood (I understand the author is trying for that gender confusion schtick, but honestly fuck the author).

Tbh the lazy/half-assed conflation of transness, cross-dressing, and drag is intensely frustrating. If you’re gonna write about queerness maybe do the work of reading, like, a single wiki summary.

But wasn't that the entire point of the story? Nekomiya-san is a mystery. You don't know whether he/she is a trans girl, a crossdressing guy, a girl who likes to mess with people or something entirely else. Can't really be any conflation when there is no definitive answer.

Chapter 5 actually hard-unsold me on Amane/Nene. I just want for them both to be able to move on and find relationships without this tremendous amount of emotional baggage and codependency.

The human body is great. It adapts however I need it to. Everytime I reach a certain level of cuteness, my insulin production levels increased dramatically to prevent diabetes. Before, my rate was 10x normal from being in this site for years, after ch.10, it became 20x, and now, it's 50x. I'm soon gonna be more insulin than person.

In contrast, as someone diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus going on 16 years, I’ve been hospitalized twice since beginning Hino-san for blood glucose complications.

Maybe evangelical Christians were right and homosexuality is contagious... At least according to this manga. :p

It’s not so much that being incredibly gay is contagious as it is outing yourself as incredibly gay is contagious.

It’d be a lot easier to invest in if I didn’t have the sneaking suspiscion that the slur is going to remain a casual component of this world’s “lore”.

Don’t force yourself to forgive an abuser the second they admit a fuckup, kids.

(Forgiveness in general is okay if it’s unpressured tho.)

it's all about you-chika :v

You’s getting advice from her girlfriend on how to be more suave with her other girlfriend, so really it’s both.

You’d think “aura that turns confident lesbians to mush” would be relatively niche power, but Chika sure does make use of it.

... Can we please stop bringing arguments about real-life gender politics (including "boy/girl dynamic =/= normal" arguments, which more or less makes little sense to me in spite of me generally sympathizing with feminism and transgender rights) into discussion threads about stories that aren't explicitly about gender politics?! It's fine to comment on the relevance of specific happenings in the story to real-life issues, but I come here to discuss wholesome stories to give my mind some peace from Real Life's toils and misery, not to expose myself to people venting their anger and offense about their subjective presumptions of what the author's beliefs actually are based on arguably quite tenuous evidence. If I wanted to give myself migraines by engaging in arguments on gender politics, I'd go to a thread that's explicitly dedicated to it.

Nothing references anything and neither context nor historicity exist.

I gotta say, without the punchline Hino-san immediately countering an “I feel weird” trope with “There’s nothing weird about you” is an incredibly powerful move.

Check the date it was uploaded.

No I got the timing of it I just think it’s not a well-considered joke.

As for trans people being mentally ill it is simple fact at this point since gender dysphoria is listed in the DSM 5 aka the book that contains the world's consensus on the diagnostic criteria for mental illness. It is literally the book that defines what is and is not a mental illness.

The people who edited the latest edition of the DSM literally said they would not have included an entry for gender dysphoria except that if they hadn’t it would be even easier than it already is to deny coverage/care to trans folks.
