Those two have elliptical conversations. I'm not convinced they themselves are supposed to know quite what they're implying.

I think it's clear after some breakdown and not as opaque as it appears. Mayoi dodges Kaoru's compliments all the time because most are insincere, but she is saying she will make an effort to not play off the sincere comments because Kaoru doesn't give sincere comments lightly. Which Mayoi knew from the start and says it was rude of her to ignore Kaoru's sincerity. Well, for the second half of the convo, anyway.

The first half seems to be Mayoi pressuring Kaoru to go back to class because of the haircut, which Mayoi appears to be in favor of generally but knows it has something to do with Kaoru? Like, she tries to imply Kaoru should go back, then cuts her off when Kaoru isn't getting it/tries to flirt and said she was talking about the haircut all along. So maybe she is also trying to see how Kaoru feels about the situation without directly asking. And maybe thinks the haircut meant Shizuka was cutting Kaoru out of her life and is worried about Kaoru? The whole setup to the scene seems to be that she saw the haircut, then saw Kaoru sitting in the library and rushes over because she thinks Kaoru is distressed due to Shizuka's haircut (or breakup). Which Kaoru is distressed, even if she isn't admitting it. Then Mayoi is nice to Kaoru, which makes Kaoru's day and gets her out of that funk and she then proceeds to fall on her face

The referents are unclear all over, which sounds like it was like that in the original

I think we can. Her hands are full the entire scene with the tray, and the knife only appears in panels where Suu is imagining Mayu. When the art is normal, there is no knife. All of the exaggerated versions of Mayu are seen through Suu in either panels where the art changes or in memories although that could just be the nature of a comedy story. It seems written in such a way that Mayu's yandere traits could all be from Suu overthinking everything. Although Mayu does say Suu managed to figure the cake thing out as if it were a test

The story is mainly focused on the fantasy elements and uncovering their backstory

Volume 3 came with an Emma epilogue I don't think I've seen anywhere. I know a few people held the complaint that they wanted some kinda nod to Emma's relationship, and I will say it's a bit of a letdown. I will say there were way more points in favor of the official translation than the fan one here. Official made certain scenes be more romantically direct and more true to character. only a few quibbles were like, some reason OT would run a "like" in lieu of "love". It's a shame the Sakiko and Chika chapter didn't squeeze in. Makes the status of their relationship a little more fraught in the graduation plans scene without that context.

No kidding about not having the Sakiko and Chika chapter, I guess it wasn't in the original volume 3 release. So, not really the localizer's fault. But that ending for them is totally different without their Christmas chapter. The Emma content was fun, if not a bit questionable since she's 15-16 and her GF seems at least in her early 20s. But it's just there to show she has a really needy mess of a girlfriend because she loves being relied on. And yeah! They said " like" almost every time to the point of redundancy

Yes, it did. It seems to be partly a setup for the next (un-inked) chapter, which has dropped elsewhere. Although it's not exactly clear why Nana's random encounter with Harumin was necessary for what happens next.

I'm guessing it's in the queue to upload here since the chapter that follows it in March or April will be very hard to comprehend without it. (Edit: there it is) And speaking of, do you know offhand which chapters of Citrus are the coming out chapters? I'd like to tag them without re-reading the whole series, but I kind of assume it happens a lot with all the different friend groups, adults, etc.

Based on the acceptances/rejections of my tag suggestions, I guess that this tag does not apply to scenes at the bus stops or train stations etc (despite them being integral part of the transit system :)) ), e.g. images 1218, 16068, 16179, 16192, 16395 and 18936.

I'd say try suggesting them anyway? Only one was rejected, 16395, but that looked like just a bench in front of a bulletin board apparently next to a beach. It didn't seem like a bus stop to me when I first checked it, but I guess I see the theme/trope/staging of it now. It wouldn't hurt to suggest them again and someone else can take a look at them, I'd say that bus stops, subway platforms, train stations and the like count.

The yen is very weak right now, so $60 after taxes for two larges and two orders of poppers is pretty standard around these parts even if delivery isn't included. Although... around these parts a large is much bigger. And theirs looks a bit like frozen pizza, but we'll never know if this is pizza heresy unless we go have some ourselves!

Just want to point out that there are several pages skipped in this translation (according to the raw), those are 6 pages at the end of ch6 + post script, and 7 pages at the start of ch9, if anyone would like to know. Anw thanks a lot to 0mniessence for picking this up! This was one of the uncompleted manga that I had always kept at the back of my mind, because the early parts delighted me so much.

Ahhhhhh!!! No kidding. Sans the postscript, they're on MD's versions. I'll update them here in the morning. I think the YH version of chapter 6 may just have less pages, unfortunately.

Pretty interesting. The other TL uses all plural (multiple machines, a group of people who could control them, cloned from that group). The plural aspect makes more sense for world-building, but having only one person makes more sense for the plot. I could see if you had an actual doomsday device (the classic weather machine) that you would want even stricter control on it than something like nuclear weapons and so only one person could control it. Still, you kind of need a method to pass on control.

Can't really relate to cis lesbian feelings but I wasn't hurt either.

I just thought that some of those stories felt like they've been written by males.

I've gotten that vibe too from all of this author's work. Might explain why they work with Irodori? Although, judging from their Twitter that doesn't seem to be the case.

Over dramatic is my middle name. No, but I genuinely hate Rae because it does not look anything like how it's pronounced. Whenever I see people calling Rei that I read it as Raé (like Caesar in the Latin pronunciation) or less often Ree (like Caesar in the English pronunciation)

Scandalous. Rae is short for Rachel, and so is commonly pronounced the same as "ray." Which is how Rei is pronounced in dubbed anime.

The real sleeper issue? Rae is short for Rachel, which is not Rei's name at all.
