You are gay, Ayaka.

Here is the thing. The ending as it is can actually pretty easily be read as them being together (I am talking about just that scene in a vacuum; then again, that scene literally is in a vacuum since we have no idea how it came about). I suspect this was the outcome most readers wanted (personally, I was in the "hope it stays unrequited" camp, but I suspect I was in the minority). And yet, the overwhelming number of comments have been negative. When you literally give your audience the outcome most of them wanted, and they hate it, I think it is safe to assume you failed pretty hard at basic storytelling.

I have agreed all along in these discussions that readers are capable of making up material in their own heads that will enable this story to make sense--readers have in fact expended enormous amounts of imaginative labor doing so.

And herein lies the problem. People have developed sometimes more, sometimes less elaborate fanfics that enable the story to function, and then they mistook the whole package (the actual story + their own headcanon) as quality writing, never realising that the sole reason they had to resort to their own imaginations this much is precisely because the writing in the actual story is bad.

I think the main reason for this disconnect is something I pointed out years ago in this thread; there is a difference between liking something and that something being of quality, but said difference is lost to many people. There are folks who liked the series and were heavily invested into it, and amongst them many have equated this with the story being well written.

As a few others pointed out, I have no idea why people are so shocked here. I saw this coming from a mile away. I gave up a long time ago pointing out the lacklustre (at best) writing in this series in the face of so many people who resorted to increasingly more extreme mental gymnastics in order to pass the story as somehow being well written.

Or they simply are bad at storytelling and couldn't handle continuing the narrative over longer period.

I'm pretty much on record for this position. I agree that the beginning had a lot of potential, but even early on in the story the signs of dropped threads, poorly structured beats, and more questions than answers were pretty evident.

That "confession cliffhanger" business was a red flag if ever there were one.

I'm going to force myself to limit my "I told you so" posts to a few hundred a day.

Nah, do not limit yourself. Go wild. You earned it.

@GrimSmiles@Norainhere These two actually fought each other in WWII. It was in the course of Operation Torch when the Americans attacked French forces in North Africa loyal to the Vichy government. Massachusetts and Jean Bart exchanged fire with each other during the Allied attack on Casablanca. I can not remember if Jean Bart scored any hits, but Massachusetts did manage to hit the French ship a few times.

I am pretty certain only this is imaginary, and the usage of the blacked-out page here was to indicate what was happening in her mind (namely, that she lost it in that moment), with everything that followed afterwards being real.

But yeah, this was basically violence that just happened to land on someone who was not upset later, not an actual BDSM play. It does subtly (or not-so-subtly, depending on how you look at it) convey that the attraction is mutual here, so there is that. Makabe being into the other girl was pretty straight-forward, but Hoshizaki was a tougher nut to crack, what with all that boyfriend talk and not really showing anything resembling attraction towards Makabe until she got hit.

Hoshizaki deliberately tried to get a rise out of Makabe, talked to her about being interested in pain play, and once Makabe snapped and started being violent, Hoshizaki reacted with barely any surprise, let alone negativity, almost like she expected and/or wanted it. And those violent scenes look pretty blatantly sexually charged. I mean, if a friend slapped me hard across my face for pulling what amounts to a minor prank on them, literally the only situation where I would not be upset was if I was heavily into said friend, if I was into pain, and if I was extremely forgiving about the circumstances (you know, the whole this-is-not-actually-BDSM-this-is-just-violence thing).

Yeah, I am with Throbelisk on this one. I do not see how Chika/Riko would be incest in DY4Y's scenario. To consider a relationship between two people who do not share an ounce of blood as incest is ridiculous. Imprisoning them for up to 5 years (Norway, Poland) is even more ridiculous.

I'm looking for a new anime to watch; I'll watch the first anime anyone recommends.

A Place Further than the Universe.

^ You must have missed the "I am not like that" scene. Bonus points for it essentially being the producers firing a torpedo at a fanon ship.

^^^^ No one skinned the lion. Or at least not the lion from the previous page. The lion girl is an aquilifer, which is a rank in the ancient Roman army. Aquilifer carried the eagle standard of the legion into battle and thus had immense importance. Lion fur, with the lion's head covering the helmet, was part of their uniform.

This was actually standard practice in the Roman army, lower ranked standard bearers who carried the standards of smaller units within a legion were also clad in fur, wolf and bear fur depending on the rank, lions being reserved for the aquilifer.

If you are wondering where from did the Romans get all these lion furs, lions were actually present in Europe in Antiquity, mostly in the Balkan peninsula. They went extinct by the 3rd or 4th century AD, in large part because of excessive hunting for sport and for the Roman entertainment industry.

Nah I prefer China to the US, China has it's problems but it hasn't killed millions of civilians in stupid wars

Communist China killed tens of millions of its own citizens... in living memory... what even...

Considering that 1) there are plenty of Canadians here already, including one prominent member of the staff; and 2) you are asking whether or not a site hosting pirated manga is illegal, I have got to ask, is this a serious question or did you just want to complain about the contents you do not like?

Historical lore ships are indeed awesome, but even more so when they have a tragic undertone, like these two. And it could be just me reading the knowledge of the battle of Midway into this image, but I think the artist managed to capture that slightly tragic flavour.

Let's just call it a seperate timeline for now (the classmate has a different name too)

Where did you see this? The only name mentioned in those two images is "Nakajima", which is then used consistently for the school girl protagonist in the actual chapter. No one else was named there.

All the fluids in here are so good.

You managed to encapsulate the essence of this work beautifully.

10/10, would read a sequel!

I also love how all the vampire politics and infighting seems to go over Ichika’s head until she hears that he isn’t into girls. Man, Ichika is pretty great.

She will be disappointed, though, since Arthur seems to be bi. His first scene is him sucking blood from a woman he was obviously in the middle of having sex with, and in the next chapter he casually has sex with the female Gika agent.

So, to sum up —
* This thing that actually happens is deeply unrealistic,
* The protagonist is a monster for being attracted to an attractive person, and
* A lot of people are desperately hoping that they're not also monsters under this formulation.

(I'd point out that while the randoseru backpack might not be perfect evidence that this girl is going to elementary school, the little crime buzzer on the strap kinda is. I'd also point out that Tae really is trying her best to shut the whole thing down; she's barely spoken two sentences to the girl, and isn't doing anything to "fawn on" her but blush.)

Basically this. Judging by the sheer length of this thread one would assume this is some sort of hardcore loli hentai manga. Instead it is a 10-page long Twitter comic in which literally nothing happens, yet people are arguing about its premise and backstory and explanations and whatnot like they are reading "Anna Karenina".

Also agree on the main character. She is first smitten with the elementary schooler because the girl looks like an adult and the MC does not know her actual age. Once she figures out her age, she rightly decides it is a no-no.

As for her being "nasty" and "fawning over" a kid, the fact that the kid looks completely like an adult is not going anywhere. Attraction works (in large part) on physical appearance, she can not help it if she finds that body attractive. What is important is that she is not making any moves on the grade schooler. The main character is obviously not a paedophile, if she were she would be attracted to this kid, not the one that looks like a grownup.
