Well Kawai Rou has the series tagged on Pixiv as "original yuri" so...

Stuck somewhere between "we ought to follow the author's designation at all times" and "maybe her definition doesn't fit ours." Eh, I'll rethink this some other time...

I would love to see a sequel where she’s a little older and can speak the language better. Maybe around the age of ten or twelve or even as late as eighteen!

Eighteen? ha. haha. hahaha.

Added Wishful Thinking. I don't find this one to be much of a spoiler but maybe I lack the imagination necessary to conceive of this manga's plot.

For the record, the Fantasy thing was a total joke. That tag is used for fantastical elements. Unicorns are fantastical. Imaginary friends are not! Thanks for the discussion, in any case.

I want to have all the yuri magazines who get out in the market, right now I only have 9 Galette, 71 yuri himes, 12 yuri hime S, 2 yuri hime selection, 4 yuri shimai, 1 Lily comic, 1 Lily comic plus, 1 DOLCE, 1 yuri heaven, 1 yuri shojo, 1 百合缶 (Feuille in concrete), 1 Hirari and one of those who have multiple series like an encyclopedia called 百合作品ファイル. My plan is to start with Tsubomi like in october or for that to buy them, so if you are missing some number in concrete just tell me and I'll star for that. Teamwork, you know (?)

That's some real dedication, holy moly. I got rid of all my yuri magazines (sadness) when I had to move. Lugging those things around is not fun lol.

Added Age Gap tag, changed Yuri to Subtext. I don't know anything about this series but given the author, I'm not entirely convinced there's anything more to this than two cute girls getting along. Will adjust tags in the future as needed.

Anyone in the know is welcome to correct me with a tag request or somesuch.

I'm not even past the first page yet, but I just felt compelled to comment- Horii Kisuke's art immediately struck me as looking super similar to Takemiya Jin's art, and when I checked out Horii's page, the very previous story of theirs was a collab with Takemiya. Spooky.

They were roommates and very good friends going way, way back. It's not uncommon to see art kids who dorm with each other borrowing a lot from each other's styles, it's pretty neat.

The NY Times has been careful and accurate in its reporting. And also, their descriptions of KyoAni shows are kind of unintentionally amusing, which is always a plus during dark times like this.

Kyoto Animation was co-founded by Yoko Hatta and her husband, Hideaki Hatta, in 1981, and went on to produce high-quality, meticulously detailed works. They included “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,” a science fiction series based at a high school, and “Lucky Star,” whose intelligent female protagonist is distracted from her studies by anime and video games. Kyoto Animation also played a role in the careers of two star women directors of television anime, said Patrick W. Galbraith, a lecturer at Senshu University who has written extensively about the art form. “That’s significant,” he said. Naoko Yamada directed the series “K-On!” for Kyoto Animation, and Hiroko Utsumi directed “Free!” a series about a boys’ swimming team. “Free!” stood out in the anime world, often known for being preoccupied with the female form, because it focused on the male body instead.

This is actually funny and kind of endearing, thanks for sharing!

Mio fainted before the last one

A certain person close to me said, "The rest is left off-screen for obvious reasons." Mio sure did look hot and bothered there...

Just a question, what's what made you stop some series when they get licensed but still continue in other ones (that also get licensed)? I mean, I ask why one yes and others don't, which points need to have a serie to be still upload here even after licensed.

I can't comment on this specific series at this point in time, however...The red box denotes something being Licensed but not necessarily its upload status. It does say "licensed content will be removed" but this is just the remnant of an earlier policy that no longer applies. We ought to change it.

As Nevri notes, we aim to respect copyright holders and their claims - this is why Lezhin content is not uploaded, and why After Hours was removed (both of these cases are slightly unique in the sense that they were overseas claims, not licensing claims). We also aim to respect the wishes of artists and translators - if they ask us to remove their work, it will generally be removed.

On the issue of licensed content specifically, we will honour the copyright claim if it is made. Otherwise, we will honour the wishes of the group currently working on such a series. For example, Lililicious has an internal policy that they will drop licensed content and do their best to remove it from the internet. We respect their wishes and do our best to comply. I believe this is actually the case with Morinaga's work, as most of it was translated by Lililicious ages ago, and they don't want pirated versions of licensed manga being spread around. Other groups have their own policies, so if no outside claim is made, we will respect whatever they choose to do. As a general rule, we aim to not upload licensed content unless it is a long-running series that has already been here previously.

Keep in mind that we have very few hard rules and more usually operate from a principle or utilitarian position. If a series is dropped and removed by one group as a result of licensing, but another group picks it up, we'll evaluate what to do with it on a case-by-case basis. We're certainly not without our inconsistencies.

Quoting from the upload request: "A one-shot from Tsubomi volume 3 that Tranquil Spring never got round to releasing before they disbanded."

Miracles really do exist. Examples of a miracle:

Horii Kisuke release in 2019.

Tsubomi release in 2019.

Tranquil Spring release in 2019.

3 in one. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

Also, special note to the editor, I have no way of properly apologising for how long it took for us to post this so...please accept my most fervent apologies! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Nez is free to add what she wants to this, but here's a few cents for your time.

Are we supposed to recommend anything as long as we think is good? Or am I correct to assume that the idea is to focus on more obscure, less known series?

This entirely depends on the context. The thread is meant to be used in two ways, A) encourage others' to read something they've missed, and B) look for suggestions based on certain criteria. If one is going for A, than they ought not focus on the biggest and baddest yuri series. The logic presented in your post is fair. However if one is responding to a post regarding B, than any and all recommendations are encouraged, so long as they fall within the OP's criteria.

Also, do we limit the recommendations to series found right now in the Dynasty Reader, and leave out those series that were removed or have never been uploaded? Or is anything fine as long as it's yuri?

Generally speaking, anything is fine so long as it's yuri, tagged Yuri or Subtext here, or passable for one of those categories. Please be careful not to break Rule 8 when linking to outside sources. Linking to any outside reader with ads will likely see your post or link removed. We have no issue with removed/licensed content being recommended or discussed. However, as a matter of courtesy I would ask that users not directly link to said content, for reasons that are hopefully obvious on their own.

This is horrible. I'd just like to take a moment to remind everyone that the early hours after a tragedy like this is when innuendo and misinformation are most likely to spread. Please consider skepticism over all but the most trusted news sources. Stay safe out there.

Double post, all for maco

Regarding the discussion of Lolicon versus Loli.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. We're slow to act as usual, but I did read it almost right away.

I propose adding the official numbering: "season year" for the earliest issues (same as Yuri Hime S), and "year.month" for the later ones

Yeah, this makes sense. We can keep the written month/year as aliases for whatever is relevant too (I guess everything post-21?). In addition, we're missing some issues and covers as well, I'd like to take the time to complete all of it when we do this. It's a fairly large and monotonous task, and we're spending most of this month performing ancient organisational rituals in the backend. As a result, I likely won't get to this till the end of the month.

"Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!" by Nanatsu Mukunoki has missing original magazine publication data:

I've spent all day organising, so I'll leave these for another day.

I tried finding the original publication magazines for "Whispering You a Love Song" by Takeshima Eku.

Thanks for your service, these have been added.

The author Shin Takekawa should be Takekawa Shin. https://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=29280

Fixed.

The oneshot "I want to be bullied by a Gal like her!" by Mochi Au Lait is from Vol 3 of this anthology:

I'm aware of its origins, I don't believe adding that anthology page to the site is interesting enough to justify. I'll try to keep in mind in such future instances that still having some link back/extra info is nice, maybe in the first post of the forum thread.

Vol. 1 Ch. 5 - "The female university life I look up to" (MangaDex) is the only other one primarily female-female, although even it is only friendship with very slight subtext:

Maybe we'll upload this one sometime.

And thanks again for everything, we really appreciate your efforts. That sure was a bit.

FreckledFemme

I was wondering if anyone has talked about adding a dark theme option to the site? I love reading here but late at night the bright white theme is hard on my eyes... then again there could be an option already that I just can't locate.

There is not currently an option but I support this and (Madoka willing) this may actually be implemented soon. Thanks for the suggestion, sorry for my lateness.

Ichigo69

Okay, I've said this to a lot of people and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but...
I'd like to suggest a new tag.

idiot_couple or dorky_couple

This is the right place, and I for one am in favour! If it's approved you'll see it show up probably around month's end.

schoenberg

I figure this should go here, Shindo and Shindou Yuki are the same author.

Yo, thanks a bunch! Fixed.

Altair

This isn't so much an improvement as it is a... bug report?

Hmm...nothing new on our end. Will look into this, thank you for the report.

Before I start reading this, can someone tell me what does the "Nice Boat" tag mean?

It's a Japanese meme that is explained in the credits page. However it has no effect whatsoever on the story, nor does it suggest anything about the content therein.
