Holy shit, this may be one of the healthiest, most functional portrayals of awkward first-time teenage sex on all of Dynasty. Like seriously, goddamn. My hat is off to this mangaka.

Man, that's pretty mild for D/s. Nobody's pretending to be furniture, for example.

Catch! has an implied timeskip at the end. Throughout the main story, the characters are in middle school or high school. At the end, one of the characters talks about celebrating getting hired for a job.

"I don't think I can hold back", she said, buck nekkid, and with a double handful of boob.

Seems to me like you've already crossed some sort of Rubicon by the time you've reached the "both fully nude and groping each other" stage.

Also, a question:

Is Thai the native language of the scanlators, with English as their second language? Or is it the other way around?

@Kayo-chin
Same here, not least because it's canon. Plus, they're both grown women, which I relate to a lot better than I relate to high school girls at my advanced age.

Can real life timeskip to the part where I live happily ever after?

From Takemiya Jin's Seasons:

Maybe and Maybe: Future. Second chapter takes place 10 years after the first chapter.

Spring Breeze, Summer Time, Melancholy Autumn, and for Seasons. Fourth chapter ends with a 10-year timeskip.

I took a look. It doesn't look like lolicon, which is what really sets me off. I might give it a read.

Thanks for remembering though, Utoptia. You're a pal.

Anyhow, this thread is really for everybody. So don't hold back just because I might not like it.

Lunchbox: Yukari and Lunchbox: Meiko tell the story of an age-gap romance from each person's perspective.

Also, the younger of the two is 18, so it doesn't even qualify as contributing to the delinquency of a minor!

Goddammit, why do I like this manga? WHY?

I mean, if I were to go to some other country (Iowa, for example), hook up for a one-night-stand with some waitress at Cracker Barrel, then go back home, only to have her follow me home a month later and show up at my door with a suitcase in hand, red flags would go up. Especially if she didn't take "Go away" for an answer. I mean, that's seriously creepy shit when it happens in the real world.

And not only that, but the girl Nozomi followed is basically a childish, spoiled brat. Her only redeeming qualities appear to be her looks.

So we have a weird stalker hooking up with an immature babe with poor impulse control. I should not find this cute or sweet in any way.

AND YET.

The sea, you, and the sun has an ambiguous timeskip in the last panel. The main character mentions that her wife complains about their wedding anniversary dinner "every year". No indication of how many years that covers, but we can surmise at least two, probably more.

Sitting at a truck stop when this question occurs to me. I think Honks has a slight edge, but I could be persuaded otherwise.

Who else can we throw into this breadfest?

I'm new at all this and have never read Strawberry Panic. So I get the joy of taking this manga on its own merits.

And I did chuckle at the whole chevalier/etoile engagement system with the rings and everything. I'm reminded of a quote from Giles:

"I believe the subtext here is rapidly becoming...text."

A Passing Story is kinda-sorta a reverse time skip. MC tells a story in flashback mode about her high school romance, and then we find out at the end that they're still together.

SPOILERS AHOY

I love it when manga, particularly the ones featuring high school romance, show the couple in the future still together and still in love. So heartwarming. So cute and fluffy.

Here are the ones I'm familiar with:

Aqua Blue Cinema
Clover (The extra chapter is a timeskip for chapter 2.)
Cross Heart
Ebisu-san and Hotei-san
Candy

Anybody think of any others?

Given that dad kinda wanted to get the hell out of there before they had sex, and didn't go in the closet even expecting them to use that room (per their dialogue), I doubt his original intent was peeping. Otherwise, the whole "I missed my chance to get out and now I'm stuck in an embarrassing situation" is kind of a classic Japanese comedy trope.

Analyzing it intellectually, it's clear that the purpose of Dad in the Closet(tm) is to perpetuate the chain of comedy that runs throughout the comic. He's just another piece of the joke. And the comic doesn't take place in the real world, but rather in that comedy setting that looks an awful like the real world but really isn't.

Emotionally, I react to the comic as a man with a daughter. My brain pencils me in the closet and her in the room with a potential lover, and I get kinda skeeved. I think you'll agree that it would be cringey as fuck, start to finish, if the events in this comic really happened in the really real world.

For which, see "This isn't the real world, but a comedic variant thereof." I understand that, and don't have a problem with it. The comic is funny! Tamamusi did a great job on it! I can see how other people can appreciate the humor of the comic on its own without getting skeeved. I'm just a little too close to the issue to pull that off myself.

This is just a fantastic manga, and it's a shame that there are probably a lot of folks out there who will give it a pass because of the Het tag.

This is a 4-koma gag comic with a surprising amount of depth, complexity, and character development. And Grandpa Tanaka is the best old guy in manga.

I like them like I like my coffee...COVERED IN BEES!

I like them like I like my coffee: in a plastic cup.

<Garth's Mom> How do you take your coffee, Wayne?
<Wayne> [seductively] I take my coffee like I take my women.
<Garth's Mom> [also seductively] And how is that?
<Wayne> Cream and two sugars.
<Garth's Mom> [confused] What does that mean?
<Wayne> [equally confused] I'm not really sure...
