How did she not know lesbian sex videos ever existed?

People in general would be surprised by how sheltered IRL Japanese society is about most things sexual, even to this day. There's a reason why they have statistically the lowest sexual frequency in the world and are almost always the most unhappy with their sex lives according to most studies.

Welp, that was ominous, to say the least (^^) . Fun chapter though, it's nice to see the tables turn and Akane be more attentive to what she wants and even a bit self-indulgent ( it's a start :P ) . I'm always happy to see more sex positivity in this genre.

I can't get mad at Watanabe for this one. She wasn't consciously converting Yoshioka to the yuri side... And to fall for her. Although once she learns, she better takes responsibility. Still couldn't help but feel bad for Yoshioka at the end there.

I won't lie, but I have a hard time following the background characters. I call them NPCs because as much as I try, I can never really follow who was who, and I admit to being a bit too lazy to try and re-read previous chapters to get the context.

It feels like the author is doing this on purpose, at least partially. The side characters being cliche and pretty bland plays into the MC's world view , we're seeing it the same way she does basically.

This scenario of an single older office lady who is ostensibly straight deciding to enter into a gay relationship because she has not other prospects is rapidly becoming a trope.

"I'm not gay, but this person is the only one interested in me so ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I guess I'm gay now!"

I don't mind it as long as it makes sense in the story, and here it's supported by the barest of threads. I think the story would be more satisfying if the MC's dilemma was around her journey to accepting that she's gay/bi, not whether or not she can accept a same-sex partner's feelings as a heterosexual woman. As it stands in chapter 3, she's not all that conflicted about her sexual identity, she's treating it like an experiment. And we all know how those experiments typically go....

I think it's handled really well in "Trying out marriage with my female friend" because even though the situation is very similar - two ostensibly straight friends who decide to get married out of convenience - it's emerging via the narrative that Ruriko appears to have been in love with Kurumi since high school and despite the fact that they are MARRIED she is still slowly starting to accept the fact that she's gay. And Kurumi is going through the same thing in a slightly different way since she's a little more easy-going and free spirited. Despite the silly premise, I find it satisfying to watch their relationship develop because each of their journeys of discovery feels more plausible to me. Maybe it's because Kurumi and Ruriko's relationship is more established and current events are an extension of that.

To be fair, the whole sexual identity thing is still something of a foreign concept in japanese society, both IRL and in fiction. You just about never see these terms used, even in most yuri/yaoi series .It's still sort of a western notion, although mentalities have been very slowly moving in the right direction lately.

I like the fact that Shiina is proactive and open to taking a chance on her gut feeling and give the relationship a try, even if it's not what she was initially looking for. It's the sort of thing that always bugs me in a lot of series where the MC is obviously unhappy about their situation, but will still not take any of the opportunities that present themselves to actually change their life. It does come with this being a short manga though, the plot needs to get moving pretty fast.

Meguru has the Mei from Citrus ''I'm dead inside'' face that makes a lot of what she's doing seem a bit creepy (^^) I can't tell if she's being seductive with the MC or if she's feeling anything at all ATM, outside of a longing for her actual sister. We'll see where the author takes it I guess. It's all a bit by the number-ish plot wise, there has to be something more complex coming up soon.

This kind of reminds me of the one where the jaded OL finds the pretty JS passed out in the bushes in front of her apartment (can't remember the name, and there weren't too many chapters, IIRC).

That OL had a lot of frantic thought balloons about her attraction to the girl.

The girl had a bunch of money from an undisclosed source.

Not the same series, obviously.

This also kinda reminds me of that... I think it was a manhua, which only got one chapter, about a girl who hires another to snuggle her at night. Apparently this is a genre.

You’re right, it was a manhua. And now I think I recall another series about a girl hired to cuddle—I think it was a college girl hired to sleep with a woman who couldn’t sleep alone. Might also have been a manhua.

Maybe we need a Cuddle for Pay tag.
