So, they only legalized gay marriage for women? That's some massive bias right there.

Didn't think about that, but it'd actually be weirdly plausible. In Germany, for example, homosexuality between men was illegal for quite long, but homosexuality between women somehow wasn't. Even the Nazis didn't specifically persecute lesbians. How weird is that?

I thought fans only wanted the best for those they admire.

Probably not the right place to discuss this, but they aren't truly fans of the person per se. They are fans of this weird idealized role the person plays. And that's where the trouble comes from, in my opinion.

I'm once again reminded that the idol industry is sick.

The real stars in this one-shot for me where the weather forecaster and the news caster, though. Rapid development indeed!

3500 yen / hour for being a psychopath serial killer is a pretty decent wage, I guess.

But it's for money! Maybe they use all their profit to save starving children in Africa!

Um, yeah. Well. There definitely was Hallucination Limonade involved here.

It's not even that the tone is split; if you look at KEY visual novels they do that all the time: make some nice, light-hearted comedy, and then, bam, tragedy happens. One emphasizes the other. Works really well, at least for me.

But doesn't mean you can just basically randomly mix it around and throw it together and have characters act like weird space-aliens that are incomprehensible to humans.

The peanut gallery is the best part in these one shots.

Meh, I stand by my last chapter comments that I don't think it'll happen.

But I still think the author handled this pretty badly. I think the idea to the mangaka was that the teacher "sacrificed" herself to play the bad guy, knowing that she'd be blamed for not telling them, but feeling it was necessary ... somehow ... to save the vamp girl ... for some reason....
... except that the author made a complete mess of the entire thing and I really have no sympathy for anyone involved here.

Plus, some random bits thrown in like this shady organization which is in it for money (am I supposed to cheer for them?) and this super-dramatically-convenient-setup (which works apparently precisely for one vamp<->one girl; do they have to have one bride? What happens if the effects are spread out over multiple victims? Why not give them blood from a blood bag instead of a live person? What about dialysis?) and so on.

Maybe it's just one chapter that didn't work quite so well, but experience tells me that once authors misstepped like this usually they don't manage to save their stories (at least to my tastes, not saying someone else might not enjoy it ^^; )

That's more like an open-relationship argument then than a poly-relationship argument, I'd say.

Either way, I suppose I kinda like this manga for the discussion / that it's not so "clearly, this is X" - it can be taken multiple ways and you might appreciate them for giving love another chance or you might think they are foolish or you might be somewhere in between or whatever. That's certainly something I can appreciate.

But it still didn't really work for me, I have to say. Maybe if the author had more time to really develop the entire thing.

I don't know. This last chapter just put the entire thing into some uncanny valley where character motivation and personalities and plot and so on stopped resembling anything that made sense.

Well. I always preferred a certain other yuri vampire series, but I do think this one could have done better than this ...

Sincere question: Why would you go into a bathroom with rain boots on?

From my extensive manga- and anime-research I can tell you that this is fairly standard onsen-public-bath-cleaning gear. Which I think makes sense. I wear them to clean our pond, too, which clearly is basically the same thing.

I like the ahoge explanation. So she's got one because she was supposed to be the MC. But now she isn't. And she isn't stupid either. But she still has it.

... that "die" thing seems like a pretty darn obvious clue that it's not regular death. People don't die when they are killed and all, I guess.

Don't forget the story also hints something's up with Ayafuji
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/vampire_chan_junior_chan_ch01#49

That mysterious hint is just a mess, isn't? She's lost everything and gained one thing but then she loses all again, so is that in total still having lost everything and nothing gained or has she now gained something different so the total is not quite everything lost but only almost all?

... kidding aside, I hate that sort of blunt foreshadowing. Hint at stuff, not come right out with a message from the future that's so vague it's meaningless anyway!

But as for becoming a vamp too, Iris did explain it was impossible in the second chapter.

Yes, but actually what she's saying there is that she's not a vampire, but a randomfantasygibberish instead. Then she says she won't turn into a vampire by being bitten.

But we've just now established that they are no vampires in the first place.

So ... I feel that that door has been left open.

I don't think that'll be the solution either, as it'd change their relationship drastically (presumably randomfantasygibberishes can't eat from other randomfantasygibberishes). But I'm not discounting the possibility entirely either (and it might be a "death -> rebirth" argument thing, too).

Speaking of the teacher, what the fuck, you giant asshole?
What do you mean "It's too soon to tell them"?!
When did you thought about telling them that "hey, Sara's toasted in 365 days"?
That information is the first thing that should come out of your mouth, if you know about it.
And yet she acted all happy go, teasing them and such

What a giant asshole

Perhaps nothing happens if they quit on day 364 ("Oh no, it's a leap year!"), so the teacher just thought they should enjoy their carefree relationship a while longer before being confronted with the fact that they have to break it up some time in the future (which I still doubt will actually happen).

I'm not saying that's the right attitude to have, but I could understand the thought process behind it.

These contrived "let's not talk about something to create drama" plot arcs are so popular among authors I barely noticed it happening again. It isn't even something manga specific: pick any lesbian romance novel ever and you'll find the same.

At least here they're just kids. Easier to buy them behaving like that ...

Going by the fact that this is a cliff-hanger, I'm sure there'll be a cheesy explanation next chapter. Like, if they are in TRUE love, it won't happen. Or "die" actually means becoming a vamp themselves. Or it can be prevented if they only do X ...

I'm not worried.

Kinky.

The "no chapter next issue" part? More denial play? Personally I'd claim it stopped being a fun tease 3 years ago ...

That's why the hair is tied up there. Would totally work.

Of course, with the length visible here she couldn't have actually climbed all that far. Looks like a tower but is probably just off the ground, ha.
