Love this series, and the mangaka's pride art is always nice. It's not an easy time in the world, there's unfortunately loud and terrible people that relish in their hate, and I still hope for a future where there's more love and kindness. I hope people can come together and be supportive to one another through everything.

^Well that's good to know, thanks. Also yeah I'm enjoying Zatsu Tabi, it's fairly budgeted but it's cute. Slice of Life is one of my favorite genres, and I enjoy seeing different parts of countries.

Y'all theorizing on how Kotori has passed her test, when it's real simple -- behold, the indirect kiss!

lol true, she was so focused on proving that she can handle milk that she blew past the indirect kiss hurdle

^That's fair I think, I was curious since I think WEP if done right could mean a lot of different things depending on who you ask. Also maybe I'll pick up Maebashi Witches again at some point, and I want to say while the series didn't click for me I don't mean to knock other people enjoying it either. I'm glad to see two people here are enjoying the series.

@ObsessiveFingerLicker I think the point where I dropped GCucks the Yuri ship was looking really dead to me, due to the series deciding to really focus on the girls crushing on the guy, Machu being angry and competitive towards Nyaan in regards to the guy. There was none of the initial spark between Machu and Nyaan anymore for me, and while they could have played around with maybe a messy bisexual love triangle the direction instead felt like an incredibly hetero love triangle. Though Juanelric has watched more of the series than I have and they sound more hopeful about the Yuri ship, so maybe there's some hopeful elements in regards to Machu and Nyaan past where I stopped watching the series. For me at least GCucks would really have to nail it's landing in a way that I enjoy for me to resume watching it.

Well I love Afro's work in general, especially Yuru Camp, so I don't want to give them so little credit here even if I don't love Mono as much as Yuru Camp.

Also oh? That's an interesting statement since I think the first maybe 6 episodes of WEP were solid and interesting, and despite the writing falling off a cliff in every regard at least the animation was still good throughout the whole show from what I remember. I watched 3 episodes of Maebashi Witches and dropped it because I had some problems with the writing, and the visuals + animation were maybe serviceable at best in my opinion, so now I'm curious of Maebashi Witches got very good after I dropped it. WEP but done right sounds like a minimum 9/10, that's a high bar to reach.

Part of the whole tragedy of WEP for me is that the series had potential to raise awareness around teen suicide, bullying, as well as LGBT topics, and it sadly crashed and burned on all fronts by the end due to how nonsense the story became. I think for me WEP but done right would have to really hit a home run with these topics.

^Ah interesting, I don't think I got to the point of your spoiler hidden response. Also yeah GWitch had it's heavy content as well, but it also generally felt more hopeful to me, and I enjoyed the cast enough to stick with it. With GCucks personally I couldn't as attached to the cast, and the heavy nostalgia aspect wasn't for me. I have a friend that likes Gundam in general but also dropped GCucks, so I don't think it's just me. Though from what I've seen it's still popular, and the nostalgia element is a huge hit with it's core intended audience. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time with the series.

^Shuji is a wet cardboard main male protagonist, from what I saw his personality was flatter than some self insert isekai male protagonists. Both girls falling in love with him felt like some kind of prank...

The woman wanting to rise to the top can eat dirt, and I really hope we see her get fired or something at some point. She deserves less than nothing for subjecting our main duo to harassment, very likely including a lot of homophobia, and possibly destroying their careers and lives.

This is incredibly petty, but the mere concept of individually-wrapped candy being seen as a positive by someone annoys me enough to leave an angry comment. Now you can be angry too about having your wholesome SoL ruined with my negativity.

^Yeah Mono often deviating so far from it's main premise is definitely disappointing.

Also Arawi being the creator of Nichijou I assume? Yeah I can definitely see that influence on Apocalypse Hotel lol

@ObsessiveFingerLicker You're welcome. Also it's interesting with the name, when the series was first announced people were trying to understand how to say the series name and poking fun a bit due to the weirdness of it, debating on if it's said like Quacks or Cucks. Which is followed by an episode where I thought, wow they're really putting the cuck in the name, and from what I saw of episode discussions people were also saying the same. The thought isn't entirely serious but...the episode was weird, a summarized version of that episode is: For context Machu up to this point has been the primary pilot of the titular GQuuuuuuX mecha, along with her and the leading boy that pilots a red Gundam being able to connect intimately in a sparkle space while fighting together. During this episode Machu gets held up and their duo team will be disqualified from a mech fight if she can't make it, so Nyaan decides to jump into the GQuuuuuuX for the first time to keep the fights going and discovers that she can also intimately connect to the leading boy in the sparkle space while fighting with him. Machu watches that whole fight on a phone, and watching them fight together makes Machu hate Nyaan. Where Machu is especially pissed with Nyaan for connecting to the sparkle space with the boy, because Machu thought that was her special connection with him. Which is really dumb in my opinion, and it officially killed the Machu and Nyaan ship for me. That's around the time I stopped watching, though I've kept up with some of the series through osmosis and so fourth, and it doesn't sound like something I want to pick up again. The trio's dynamic aside there's a lot of things that I simply don't enjoy with the overall plot, handling of character introductions and deaths, character progression, so on.

^I'm not saying every series has to be like GWitch, I said "which is fine of course" because I was trying to let people know that I don't think every series has to be like GWitch. What I was trying to say is that if people enjoyed GWitch and are expecting something similar with GCucks it's very different. Ultimately GWitch aside I just don't think GCucks is for me, and that's okay. I'm happy for anyone that's enjoying GCucks.

At the risk of pulling on a string not meant to be taken too seriously, but how did the school know about them "passing" their tests together late at night essentially in private? That has some worrying implications.

the least creepy explanation i can think of is that staff saw the food and drinks that was left out for them was eaten properly and made note of it in the morning.

Though even then the food being left out is at least somewhat concerning, because it means the staff knew they would be eating together. I guess it's supposed to be thought of as the staff believing in their ability to come together, but the issue there is that this whole school set up feels like the students are an experiment...

There are a lot of disturbing implications if you think about this series too hard. I advise you to join me in not doing that.

Yeah I'm going to enjoy the girls being cute together, and I'm aiming to not think super hard about the concerning implications throughout the story lmao

^I think that's fair to say, I'm not enjoying it as much as Yuru Camp sadly. Yeah the mangaka characters feel like their own series or at least characters that would get their own short spin-off bonuses. It's a cute series but it definitely feels unfocused and the photography/cinema angle needs more of a priority. There's a few shows I'm enjoying more this season, such as Apocalypse Hotel, along with HibiMeshi as you mentioned.

Lmao anytime a yuri one shot isn't happy, no matter how interesting or well written, the comments on this site is always a shitshow.

People have different opinions and we discuss the media in question. That's pretty normal for human beings having a conversation.

Also I agree that not every story has to be happy, though that also doesn't change that I personally didn't like this story. Additionally as I said in a previous comment people enjoying this work and thinking it's well written are valid, and those of us that didn't enjoy it are just as valid. Of which there are a mix of opinions on both sides, and there's plenty of people in this community that love darker stories.

^I assume you're talking about "GCucks" as people call it, I personally dropped it. The series wasn't what I was looking for personally. It's a very nostalgia driven hetero-normative love triangle series, and last I saw it was very focused on a murder of the week type narrative, that I call "Conveyor Built Murder" when media introduces a new character just for the sake of them being killed off. Here it felt largely used to further drive the characters down a dark path. I've seen people loving the series, but I decided it wasn't for me and called it good. I personally prefer GWitch and find the cast of Gwitch more more charming in general, along with Gwitch being more hopeful imo, which is the type of narrative that I need more of right now.
