One of my favorite things about this series is how Asako is pretty much completely out and it's not a big deal. That conversation between Miyako and Asako's dad was super sweet, and I laughed at the bit with Asako's album.

I was a worried about Miyako's parents when she started talking about how "serious" they were, but it seems like the issue is that she's worried about not being "ordinary" due to being an ex-idol, which is kind of a wholesome reason to be anxious.

saw it a lot on TikTok, it's basically this "normal" looking girl and her pretty childhood friend that moved away but came back at around high school, normal looking girl is scared that her old childhood friend has turned into a gyaru but she's actually still the same but just now a pretty gyaru. I can't find the title anywhere I feel like I'm going crazy

It's probably Childhood Friend, Big Love

though it could also be Futari Monologue

Takamine is so smooth. And pretty cute, with how disappointed she was not being able to see Sakura in her normal clothes.

Now let's just hope she hasn't caught the dreaded cold, or if she has, we at least get a chapter of Sakura visiting her.

Oh wow, I'm really liking this. Ami is awful, but I love it; I find this dynamic really entertaining.

I wonder how long before Rei realizes she's seeing a part of Ami that she doesn't show anyone else.

Been thinking about this more than I probably should, and what I find most frustrating about the writing of this arc, aside from Yamada not standing up for herself, is that ultimately the consequences of this whole thing are so skewed. This whole conflict is entirely of Kase's making, and she is the one with all the agency in resolving it. Yet it's Yamada that has the most to lose, and bears the burden if Kase were to fail, and that just feels awful.

If Kase loses and has to stay in the dorm, all she misses out on is not having Yamada to wake up next to every morning (a loss to be sure, but let's be real: it's pretty low stakes). Yamada on the other hand has been working extra shifts at her job for months to save up. She's been spending loads of time shopping for apartments, and running herself ragged in the process; all effort that would go to waste if Kase loses. She's the one who has been planning to move in for months, and has been actively working towards this goal while Kase does nothing. And let's not forget that she ran a real risk of being homeless if she hadn't been able find another apartment after losing the first one, or if Kase wasn't going to be around to split the rent.

And this is just made worse by the fact that it's Yamada who we constantly see struggling. We see barely any of Kase's training, and she always seems to be not serious the few times we do. This arc would have felt a whole lot better if instead of constantly having to see Yamada be the victim of Kase's stupidity, we had instead seen more of Kase struggling and having to overcome adversity. As it is now, it feels like we're supposed to swoon at how cool "serious mode" Kase is, and how she comes through for Yamada, but it's totally undermined by the fact that what she's rescuing Yamada from is a problem entirely of her own making.

Thank god this arc is finally over. Seems fitting that such a terrible arc ends on such an anti-climax too. Kase wins easily, Yamada can't even be there to cheer her on, and we don't see Kase telling Fukami the real reason she's moving out. What terrible writing from start to finish.

Hopefully we get a bunch of cute moments of them living together to make up for it. I'm also hoping they go back and show Kase telling Fukami the truth at some point, because then at least this arc would have resulted in something happening.

The end is nigh!

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2023-09-18/shio-usui-i-married-my-female-friend-manga-ends-on-october-18/.202471

Aw, that's a shame. I could have continued watching the pair's slice of life hijinks for good while more.

When Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon ended, this was already running, so they certainly deserve a bit of a break, lol. Afaik Shio Usui doesn't have another work lined up yet, but hopefully it won't be too long a wait. I really like their style.

So Riri’s still not leaving Nanjou alone. Geez, give her a break already. Seems like Nanjou’s been smitten since first sight though.

Is it yet another attempt? I thought we went back to show it from prez's perspective. I mean I hope it is because I'd rather have Riri get the point instead of trying yet again.

Phone says it's February 15th, so the day after Valentines. Unless prez just left the notification up for some reason, it certainly seems like Riri is continuing to press.

Oh, Harta's publishing a yuri series? Neat! I like a lot of the stuff they put out, and I thought this was a really solid opener, so I've got high hopes.

I usually don't ask for recommendations but i'm going to try it a couple time for now.
I just finished Model & Manager-san, Anyone got a yuri manga with this kind of dynamic? where one of the character is kinda being pampered by the other (or they mutually does it to each other). Like how Yuria likes being praised by Okabe when she does a good job and is a little clingy, and Okabe is kinda taking care of her.
I'm not mad about nsfw elements if they fit but preferably i'm looking for this kind of calm wholesome pace.

She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat - a woman who enjoys cooking, but has a tiny appetite, gets to know her neighbor, a large woman with a physically demanding job and the appetite to match, and starts regularly cooking her huge meals. Super sweet and funny, and one of my favorite releases of last year. Also got a live-action adaptation by NHK, that is actually really good.

After the Curtain Call - a manhwa about a massive theater geek supporting her favorite small theater actress.

Monthly in the Garden With My Landlord - Asako can't help herself from taking care of Miyako, a former idol who's now her too carefree landlord.

I’m loving this series so far, but I am worried about the pacing after hearing that there are over a hundred chapters

I hope they get together and the story continues on and that’s why there are so many chapters

Yeah, I'm kinda shocked to hear that there's over 100 chapters too. There aren't that many volumes out yet (two so far, with the third releasing soon) so I never would have thought there were so many chapters.

I'm kind of wondering if it will take a similar path as Kiss and White Lily for my Dearest Girl where there's a bunch of couples that take turns getting the spotlight. Because yeah, as much as I'm enjoying this so far, I'm not really sure how they'd keep things interesting over 100 chapters without some major developments.

I gotta agree with many of the other commenters here: this chapter just felt really off to me. Going back and re-reading the first chapter, Lillian wasn't as bad as I was remembering, but I was still having a hard time squaring away her thought process this chapter. Her whole "plan" just seems really half-baked and unnecessarily mean, and even if she wasn't some evil villain, Evris still assumed she had betrayed her, and that was pretty much completely glossed over?

I thought the initial premise was solid, and I like what they seem to be going for this chapter with the whole "Evris doesn't need saving, she needs support and someone who believes in her" theme. Plus I'm just generally a sucker for villainess tropes. But I'm still not really feeling this so far; hopefully it turns around.

Really good first chapter. It being so long really helps to establish the feelings between the main couple better than a lot of romcoms manage. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

On an unrelated note, for as pretty as most of this chapter was, I couldn't help but think on this page that the pair looked like a couple of aliens XD. I think it's the glossiness of their eyes.

Good on pres for setting a firm boundary. Riri suffering feels bad, but she was doomed from the start, so hopefully now she can finally move on. I hope Uda doesn't end up feeling guilty for encouraging Riri to give the chocolate.

Movie date! Can't wait to see how that goes. I'm also wondering if maybe volleyball girl is going to learn anything about Sakura when visiting her school; we don't really know anything about Sakura other than that she likes books, so I'm curious to see what's going on at her school.

Oof, Hinata going in for the "I love you", only to get hit back with "Thanks. Good night" That's a rough start to summer vacation.

Now I wonder where they'll go from here.

On a honeymoon, hopefully.

Also, now that they've talked things out, they really ought to remove that rule about going back to being friends if they fall in love with someone else.

Risa got her girlfriend! Happy for her, and also happy for almost everyone in this thread who was rooting for her, lol.

I think this series is terrific, and I thoroughly enjoyed it the whole way through.

This very much feels like the ending of an anime season 1 where you know there's more to come but it never got a second season.

I couldn't agree more. It's not a completely open ending, but rather one that marks both a close to one chapter of the story while at the same time setting the stage for the next chapter. It's just a shame we likely won't be getting that next chapter.

An ending whose worst fault is that it leaves you wanting more isn't too bad in my estimation. I've certainly seen plenty of worse endings than this too, so overall I have to say I really enjoyed this series. John Wick/Jason Bourne, but lesbians, is a hell of a concept. Can't wait to see what the mangaka does next.

I also really liked that it actually brought up the church's issues with homosexuality. It's always been a bit weird to me that Catholic school is like, the stereotypical yuri backdrop, but stories with that setting almost never actually bring it up.

I like the setting of this, and the art is good, but the story continues to be one of the most frustrating things I read on this site, and it's entirely because of Shion. She really is the worst, but hey, at least she realizes it?

Terrific chapter. This series is so good with the way it goes between silliness and really creepy horror. I'm really liking it a lot.

Let's assume before. The problem is, while Aizawa clearly liked Michi a bit from chapter 1, she wasn't head over heels for her yet (Or at least, it took her a while to stop kissing and looking up other girls' skirts.) So they couldn't have known each other too well. It makes it hard for Aizawa's regrets to be specific to Michi too.

I've seen several people elsewhere speculate that Michi was involved with Aizawa's death somehow, but I agree with this. Aizawa only really started focusing on Michi once Michi became her fan, so I don't think it's likely that Michi was involved with Aizawa's death, at least directly. I suspect Michi's trauma is probably some other ghost, maybe the same one that tripped up senpai, or another one that's related to that weird pentagram somehow.

Its also kind of interesting how the manga is drawing parallels between idol culture and the supernatural. With Michi's inability to speak to Aizawa being like a fan keeping a proper distance from their idol, and her falling deeper into fandom equating to seemingly becoming more and possessed by Aizawa's ghost.

Also, Michi's poor dad. He seems like a nice dude, but unfortunately his daughter is in her rebellious phase. XD

At this point with the way people are hyper analyzing and focusing on the English title of “Throw Away the Suit Together” and seeing this solely as a run away from the life sucking corporate workforce should know the Japanese title is “君としらない夏になる“ or properly translated “Into a Summer I Never Knew With You”.

It is an interesting point to consider, because while the Japanese title is 君としらない夏になる, it is also "Throw Away the Suit Together". That English title isn't an invention of the scanlators or the localizers, it's literally printed on the cover of the Japanese volumes. And considering how it's not even close to a literal translation, it definitely feels like an intentional choice rather than Engrish gone wrong. It makes me wonder what the mangaka/editor's reasons were for choosing it, because it's not like "Into a Summer I Never Knew With You" is a bad title at all.

I do think when the story releases in English, Seven Seas should rethink the localized title over to not give people a different expectations about the focus of the story.

I think Seven Seas is going with the Romanized title of "Kimi to Shiranai Natsu ni Naru". At least that's what they announced it as in their press release.

They stay together and are clearly in a better place mentally by the end, and that's a good thing, but I can't help but feel the ending is a massive bummer. I mean, it's called "Throw Away the Suit Together", and the final page is the two of them in suits. They've given up on their dream. Life has beaten them.

Though there is a certain beauty in how life may have beaten them, but it didn't break them, and they're staying together and doing their best going forward. But still, mega bummer, in part because of how real it feels.

Here's hoping we'll get volume extras that put a bit more of a silver lining on things. Like at least show they eventually find work, at decent companies. Also, this is probably just because I'm a weirdo, but ever since I saw the villa on the island in the early chapters, I thought it would look lovely with a nice garden around it and I'm sad it'll now never get one.

Kovachi Luka announced the series is ending with the next chapter (162) in a couple weeks. (link contains some minor spoilers for the latest raw ch.) Link to the tweet. End of an era. I'm definitely going to miss it.

The scans still have a ways to catch up, so that's something to look forward to at least.

I'm glad Mikawacchi called out what Kase's been doing as being terrible. If only Yamada actually took it heart instead of brushing it off.

I'm looking forward to Kase's fortune coming true and it turning out that their new apartment has super thin walls, so there's still minimal opportunities for sexytimes.
