There's new girls in town, not from niji or holo but they come strong!

Oh, right, idol. The ad for them popped up in my recs a few weeks ago, but I'd totally forgotten about it by the time they actually debuted. The agency is Israeli, but I'm not sure anyone in EN is

They seem to have an Idol-EN group, as linked, and also a Idol-HE group, which I guess is idol-Hebrew generation one, (no hebrew/Israeli naming or theming(?) ), but a very scientific quick check of 10 seconds of a random game video on each of their channels had all of them speak english (less well than the EN) in all of those quick checks.

But Holo/Niji ID also speak english for the majority of time.

Their very first announcement https://idol-company.com/432-1/ already has a line about "We have received and seen concern from members of the online community about comments and replies in our announcement video that contain themes of racism and hatred towards the affiliation of the group." so I doubt it's going to end well.

They have a blurb on their webpage about
"We care about our talents.
From mental health to growth strategies we help our talents achieve the dream of becoming a full-time VTuber as part of our commitment to change VTubing industry standards

Talents Get The Bigger Cut
We are proud to have one of the highest paying contracts in the industry.
Personal support
Our talent mental health is our first priority, our goal is to be there for our talents 24/7.
Expenses coverage
From video games, to professional studio equipment. We will pay most of your streaming expenses."
(and more)
but the HE-generation has about 6K subscirbers apiece after half a year, so even if they walk the walk it probably doesn't matter.

EN Gen is at 10-14K in less than a week, so I hope it works for them, as I hope it works for any vtuber.

They lost a ’batsu’ game, ie. a game with a ’punishment’ decided by the victors. Which was this.

How to recognize a person with secret delinquent past: first check teeth for filed sharp, cannibal fangs. Luckily Momoka has a glamor to suck them in when smiling as customer service.

Xiaoen is only 26 yet she already understands that the drive to maximize short-term profit often ends up undermining the potential for long-term growth.

Ayup. Smart cookie. Doesn't take shit either. Could she replace my Prime Minister?

You were what? Finn? Estonian?
The Finn Prime Minister is a horrorshow embarrassment and really needs someone like Xiaoen to chase her off her ministerial chair with a big stick.

Never voted for that party, but because she's left, a woman, and partied a bit after being a prime minister during some very hard times with covid and the war, the hit jobs are coming from asshole right wingers? (oxymoron)

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll get a nice finnish tories + nationalist right government next time to make life so much better.
Based on your posts you probably fit right in with those.

OMG - a HUGE ass spider like that, so close and on the only door to escape? I'd have ptsd for sure too!

This is why carrying a large spider-whacking-mallet on one's person at all times is important :P

Would love to know where Onibi'd keep it, what with her only having a school swimsuit...

That's what Hammerspace is for, literally

Are there any youkai that kill directly with sex? I wouldn't doubt something like that showing up soon.

There are examples of yokai who directly kill people who are presumably trying to have sex with them
https://yokai.com/jorougumo/

https://yokai.com/kejourou/

and peeping tom youkais who might want to

https://yokai.com/takaonna/

As an aside, I love the sentence "Like other brothel yōkai, they are rarely seen outside of the red light districts, but are fairly common yōkai nonetheless."

Love that not even world building can get in the way of tropes, lol. The fact that yukatas exist in this semi-modern jrpg like medieval town kinda threw me for a second, but whateves.

Also, can anybody tell what exactly the "sheepa expression of love is?" Is it like a shove? A headbutt? I can't fully tell from that one panel.

I thought kissing her hair was the expression, and Momo just flinched in shock, which Aki was referring to as that she always does that.

The "Let's save that for her" part... It's too wholesome, too adorable.
Both Nanao and Ena, best girls in this manga.
Notice it !!!! Adorable but stupid Asumi.

But do we really wish on Nanao a girlfriend who will cheat on her with all the whores in Tokyo?

You can really imagine this comment being said by someone looking like your profile pic, so good work I suppose

Regarding the credits note, it is very smart to not wear glasses when playing ball, especially if your preference is to catch them with your face

I suppose a manga is really good if it makes different people hate one of the persons, but a different one to someone else, to the point they want to stop reading. I'm not sure if feelings of that much uncomfortable are a good thing for an artist to create, but it shows skill.

As an aside, I sometimes wonder about when people talk of "toxic" people and their thusly toxic relationships, in japanese manga - if it's just a western concept. Not the existence of those people, of course, but the idea that some people are "toxic" in behavior and that it's a bad thing for the reasons we give/know.
Some/many japanese people seem to unironically love and adore tsunderes and yanderes despite those being toxic people. Do any japanese readers of eg. this have the concept in the western sense that one or both of these characters are toxic and that the other/both should perhaps cut ties? Or do they just accept it and wait for them to fall in love?

This might not make any sense, but a lot of things people write in this site don't make any sense to me, so tit for tat.

"Oh wow (i.e. surprise, unlike how I thought) she's really athletic" "That's what you are thinking, right? I was thinking that too" doesn't seem like ironic.
But I guess this can be the next thing people write essays about

And for the love of god(?) Michael Jordan hasn't hit every single free throw he ever made. Missed a shot? Not athletic.

Two ryona fetish Vtuber made a NSFW yuri audio drama.

Also, we do have this image of the very strict japanese high school but we have to keep in mind that these strict high schools depicted in manga and anime are the private ones.

Most of the schools depicted in anime and manga are state schools.

This school setting of this specific manga is probably a co-ed public school — and not saying that’s always the case, but in many many places public schools are just lax with their rules. I doubt that Japan is any different. I have seen some manga depicting such thing (schools that seemed lawless).

Japan is different. School rules in the Japanese education system (especially in state schools, which is most of Japanese schools) are notoriously strict. Dress code, hair code, behaviour, loitering after school hours, sometimes even the type and colour of students' underwear is regulated. Japanese students can get in trouble with teachers if their hair gets a lighter shade over the summer due to sun exposure.

And students who stand out (dyed hair, piercings, tattoos, clothes that are against regulations, being openly gay and so on) are not only liable to get in trouble with the teachers, but are also in many schools practically guaranteed to be relentlessly bullied by other students. Bullying in the Japanese education system is widespread and specifically targets students who dare to stand out from the crowd.

Japan has high rates of depression and suicide amongst its students (high school, college and even primary schools). In fact, during the last half a decade suicide rates amongst Japanese students have continuously gone up. This is partly because students are routinely expected to have high grades (by both their teachers and their families), partly because of bullying, and partly because of oppressively strict school rules and regulations.

I mean, this is something people just should be aware of at least if they find themselves idolizing Japan in some way.

I think this is also a very big reason WHY a some schools in manga are like this one, why anime people have wacky hairstyles/colors, delinquents are a big thing, so many stories have a fantasy/supernatural element and so on and so forth.

Damn you, mom, you just HAD to get rid of the doll, didn't you?

Couldn't leave the girl with her precious dolls alone.

Your right to parenthood has now been revoked.

Worry not, she ain’t a parent anymore

I can't believe Nirvana is on a Japanese highschool girls play list. Kurt Cobain passed away at least 10 years before she was even born. I could maybe buy Foo Fighters, but I'm not sure how big they are in the overseas market.

The entire point here is that she doesn’t listen to what others do, she says that. The other girls in her group don’t recognize the bands at all.

You think there can’t be one japanese schoolgirl in all the country with western music taste to make a doujin around?

I also had something else here but I deleted it, wooo

While lifestyle creep is a thing that destroys for example tons of sports pros given how stupid/uneducated they are and how many grifters are there to take advantage of them, people here talk like 3 million is nothing. How many of you, if you work in your current job for your entire life, will earn anything close to that?

Aww shit, so many yuri stories with twins end up like this :(

Well, unless you want to go incest, or assume some sort of magical "They fall in love with another set of exactly same twins", that's how it goes... I'm no twin of anyone, but it's probably a pretty realistic and understandable to feel betrayal. Hope she doesn't act on it at least.

I don't myself call actual afterlife with actual memory-having personalities with actual physical contact between them bittersweet at all. Everyone dies. I don't rate the chances of real afterlife very high, though people who disagree are probably happier.

^^ Tweet says just thousand and one nights. Aladdin wasn't originally part of that, though author/people in general might not know. I mean, there is a lamp though the carpet doesn't fly.
Aladdin was added into the medieval middle-eastern collection by a western traveler based on a folktale from 1700's.
Fun fact: Aladdin was a Chinese muslim in the original tales, imagine if Disney could have done that back then.
