The thing about kids people mention 'what about adoption' did stand out as troublesome to me tho. I dont know how its percieved in Japan but it was like the option never occured to the mangaka- like having kids was totally out for 2 girls when they have plenty of options.

Japan only allows a couple to adopt a child if they are married, and same-sex couples cannot get married in Japan.
But even then, Japan has a very low adoption rate of children.

It always baffles me when countries don't allow for same sex couples to adopt. There's so many kids out there that need loving parents and a good home.

It mainly has to do how marriage works in Japan and how slow they are with changing the system. For marriage the woman has to be registered into the man's family register which is why same-sex couples cannot do that right now. Single mothers are generally looked down upon, and up until not too long ago children born out of wedlock did not have the same rights as "regular" kids when it would come to things such as inheritance.

Japan's adoption system is pretty bad anyway, only around 15% of orphans in childcare institutions actually get adopted (compared to something like 70+% of the UK and the US). Additionally, most adoptions in Japan are adult men getting adopted into families so the family can keep their family name and company through their adopted heir. Ironically this also allows same-sex couples to become recognized as family by adopting the other.

Are you saying that in Japan, if you are gay, you don't marry but get adopted?

I've heard it's a thing that works with gay men and I'm not sure about women...but yeah basically a loophole there.

Edit: Though I've heard least Tokyo as of last month now acknowledges gay couples with a...certificate of being a couple or something? Apologies I'm probably remembering the exact details wrong. Basically there's progress, but definitely a lot of work to be done still.

Yeah, the vibes are off. It's not just a one-off joke here, but more like a running gag. Women with large breasts do get stared at in real life, but I don't know why I'm supposed to find it funny.

Hopefully you'll see this since the second chapter came out,but in short,you're expected to run and find a police officer even if that option is the worst option when factoring in protecting your loved ones and protecting your stuff.

What this means is if you successfully defend yourself plus related people from an attacker and you so much as injure them too much,they can get a reduced sentence or even not get charged.

This would be fine if not for the fact a lot sources state that if you make first contact,it's not self-defence.

See what clearly is a hostile person in your home?,you can't make the first strike,no baseball for home defense here.

See a crazy person charging at you with clear intent to harm?,congrats on carrying a knife for self-defence,because anything longer then five cm is illegal to publically carry,and Swiss army pocket knives are too long.

Combine this with the extremely flawed police habit of making sure all cases are closed and the court system being a very "guilty until proven innocent" stance,and you're pretty much always going to get into way more hassle then you honestly should receive.

Where to start? There are already some really fucked up manga that were adapted as anime. Honestly, this story would look pretty regular next to Redo Healer or something gross like that.

There's even a very explicit yuri-service anime out there, Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. I guess the upcoming Looking Up to Magical Girls will go somewhat in that group.

Only difference is that if this was to be adapted, it would at least treat sex and same-sex attraction with some respect (which is why I found ch. 17 off-putting), and not be just focused on revenge rape and torture, or just having boring, badly set up fanservice scene after another.

At first I thought the bunny had drawn a building for the local nazi group, but then I remembered that a lot of Asian countries don't have that same association with the symbol that the west does. That made a whole lot more sense.

IDK Japanese people should know exactly what it means. They were nazi Germany's allie in the war.
However I know if you draw the design with arms turned one way it's the nazi symbol, if you draw the arms the other way it's just some old religious symbol. I want to say buddhist, but don't quote me on that. The trouble is I don't remember which way is which. And I don't really want googling nazi stuff in my search history. So I'm going to be outraged by the nazi bunnies to be on the safe side.

Yeah lol I came to the comments just for this. The swastika was originally a Buddhist symbol, and in countries where Buddhism is popular its pretty much the symbol of Buddhism, on par with he cross for Christianity. It dosen't quite have the same weight as the cross, but it is still a very popular symbol used throughout history in buddisht art and architecture. So the symbol likely is just to denote the local Buddhist temple.

While the nazi party did appropriate the symbol, it still exists across numerous ancient statues and temples. As a result, in those countries, the swastika's tie to the nazi party is secondary to its religious meaning, since most people growing up there will see the symbol numerous times in Buddhist imagery before they ever learn any sort of WWII history.

One must also note that Hitler created the design mostly from his childhood memories of seeing similar patterns in various churches,albeit,I don't know how much he knew of the original swastika when making his final draft.

What I can say as a guarantee is that trusting the randomly selected Japanese person to actually have good history education is more of a gamble then any plain ol' casino,because I have interacted with Japanese people who still didn't know what Malaysia was even after telling them where Japan began their invasion hours before Pearl Harbour was struck.
