I think that "lore" dump wasn't necessary. I mean this whole chapter up until that confession scene convinced me that those two were super close.

There's also I Wouldn't Mind Being Loved by Amano Shuninta. Plot is similar to Asumi-chan's except MC starts working at the brothel almost immediately. She makes girls fall for her left and right.
It's completed in Japan at 4 volumes. The first book was partly translated by Sexy Akiba Detectives; but then they stopped and I don't know why, I'd like to ask them but I don't use Discord. (Actually if some of you do use Discord I'd be thankful if you talked to SAD and asked them about the status of this manga and their plans for it!)

Compare this to the superior yuri harem manga Watamote, in which Tomoko gets the girls because she's a scumbag weirdo.

Are you aware that Watamote is a cgdct comedy for a male audience, created by two experienced shōnen mangaka, serialized in Gangan and sold as manga for boys?

I noticed all the onomatopoeia are carefully translated. It must have been a helluva work to clean and rewrite everything. Now I'm full of curiosity about the originals. FE "ba-dum ba-dum" "ba-thump ba-thump" and "throb throb" given the context are all heartbeats so should be all "doki doki" right? But I wonder about "fret fret" and "shake shake" that are very similar in context too... and "scrub scrub" "slide slide" and "floof floof" are I guess variants for the sound of cleaning skin... and I wonder if "plunk" is really the right onomatopoeia for something being slowly submerged in water?

1) Mom and auntie Ren were lovers in college.
2) Mom dumped auntie Ren because, y'know, the usual reasons: "Gotta stop playing around, gotta grow up, gotta do my filial duty, gotta marry and have children!"
3) Mom married some guy and had Youzi. Then she divorced him because she's a lesbian and having to put out for him sucked big time and she couldn't take it anymore.
4) Mom became a famous actress, Ren became a famous singer.
5) They meet again (partly thanks to Youzi) and Ren finds out that mom is living alone and raising her kid by herself... and that she often sings to Youzi the secret love song she and Ren wrote together while in college.

Present time, Youzi suspects that mom and auntie Ren still love each other but are silly & useless about it. Maybe mom also feels guilty for hurting Ren before and feels she doesn't deserve to get her back.

I like the way you think. I don't know if all of this background will ever be shown to us, and in fact it's better if some parts like the hetero marriage are never illustrated, but the story between them was most likely like this.

Could be interesting, but kinda unclear where it's going from here. What's the hurdle? "No, I can't accept that it's a woman!" and then we drag it out for 12 chapters?

Essentially this. It is interesting how many people have come out of the woodwork to actually defend and outright try to excuse the main character. "Oh, the sister set up 90% of the blackmail herself", as if that is not an utterly insane position to have. Or concocting fanfiction scenarios where the sister is not bothered and is almost depicted as happy to be giving money to her "cute baby sister". (Amusingly, although there is at least one poster here who usually has issues with such fanfictional interpretations, they apparently do not have a problem if the particular fanfics are feeding into their own narrative.)
